I wish I could go back in time and
catch a glimpse of you-
See the man who is my Grandfather,
The man I never knew.
I wonder if you were happy-
Did life bring you joy untold?
Did you conquer all your dreams-
Did you watch them all unfold?
I wish I could have known you-
Could have seen your heart and soul.
But I never got the chance - you
died when I was five years old.
I wish you could have been there to
watch me grow and play-
I wish you could have been there with
me on my wedding day!
I wish we could have shared the beauty
of a flower wet with morning dew-
I wish I could have had one day- just one
day with you!
I would love to see a sunset reflected
in your eyes-
Or share the magestic beauty of
a sunrise.
I wish you could have told me the
story of your life-
With all it's ups and downs -
with all it's joys and strifes.
I hope the Lord shined down his blessings
on you everyday-
Grandfather, I want you to know I Love
You more than words can say.
