4-H a Family Affair
What is 4-H?
4-H is a volunteer led, educational program.
4-H is an informal, learning-by-doing program for any youth 8-19 years of age
     whether they live in town or on a farm.
4-H is kids having fun and learning with their friends.
4-H is Empowering Today's YOUth!
4-H is to assist youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society.
The four H's stand for:
HEAD ~ to think, plan, and reason
HEART ~ to be true, kind, and sympathetic
HANDS ~ to serve, be useful, helpful, and skillful
HEALTH ~ to develop health and vitality
I pledge my Head to clearer thinking,     My Heart to greater loyalty,
My
Hands to larger service and my Health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world.

Did You Know?
4-H is America's largest out-of-school educational program for all youth age 8-19.
Some 4-H Alumni:  Senator Larry Pressler, Hilton Briggs, Johnny Carson, Faith Hill, Reggie White, Orville Redenbacher, Sissy Spacek, Jacqueline Kenndy Onassis, Florence Henderson, and Dolly Pardon just to name a few. 
You might already be participating in 4-H and not know it! 
CHARACTER COUNTS! Wonderwise and Youth in Sports are all connected with 4-H! 
4-H is alive and well in over 80 countries around the world.
4-H reaches youth in both urban (64%) and rural areas (36%).
4-H involves one out of every five youth in South Dakota between the ages of 8-19.
4-H is the only off-campus youth education program of the land-grant university system.
The 4-H colors, green:  nature's most common color and it's emblematic of springtime, life and youth.
The color white:  purity and high ideals.
