Crimson Tears

Part 5- Forward Motion

Duo looked between the two boys with mass confusion on his face. His violet eyes landed on the Arabian, questioning him. "What are you talking about? I know you want WuFei to be alive as much as I do, but you know he's dead."

"Who said I was dead?"

The longhaired boy swiftly turned to the onyx-eyed person in front of him. "Are you a zombie?"

"Moron."

The blond chuckled at WuFei's observation. Feeling quite confident he decided to ask him, "Where have you been. What happened to you?"

"Slow down. You're turning into the eternal braided baka over here. Let's go back to my apartment and I'll see if I can explain." Turning his back to his once teammates he walked off.

Quatre cheerfully went along and left Duo standing in the middle of the sidewalk with his jaw hanging open. The American shook himself out of his daze and followed. After walking about two and a half blocks the three of them reached an apartment complex.

They took the small elevator to the third floor, stepped out and entered the first apartment on the right. It was a very small and simple living space. From the entrance was the living room, equipped with a TV, sofa and recliner. To the left of the door was the kitchen, next to that was a tiny hallway that lead to the bathroom and bedroom.

Duo set the grocery bag on the floor then proceeded to plop himself onto the sofa with Quatre right behind him, except the Sandrock pilot had a more tactful and refine way of sitting, leaving WuFei to sit in the recliner.

"So," the Chinese boy spoke up, "what do you want to know?"

"Where have you been?" Quatre asked eagerly.

"Here. This," he pointed to his hair, "was Heero and Trowa's idea. Changing my appearance and my location, they thought it would fool OZ."

"What about your eyes? You didn't like take out yours and get new ones from the hospital, did you?" this came from the pilot of Deathscythe.

"No." he brought his hand up to his eye and took out a contact lens. "They're colored contacts. Again this has to do with my appearance." He too out the other one and placed them in their case.

"Okay, but I saw Heero kill you."

"No, you didn't. You saw me lying on the floor in blood. That was to give the illusion that I had been killed. You however weren't supposed to see that due to your sensitivity."

"Then where did the blood come from?"

"Random OZ idiot 321. The guard saw Heero talking to me and attacked. The gunshot you heard was Heero firing on him. We moved the body into the cell I had you captive in and I laid down in the pool of blood that was left behind."

"What happened when you were gone for those two months?"

"I didn't mean to be gone for that long. If your remember my mission was to get a drug that had been in development that made it so anyone who took it would become more aggressive and have no fear of dying or killing. It was called 'Serum P'. Anyway the first attempt was a failure due to all the mobile suits around. So I faked an order from Treize saying that he wanted all the Leo and Aires at his base for protection."

"And that worked?" Duo question with a hint of surprise in his voice.

"Yeah, it surprised me too. So the second time I managed to get in the base, but not very far. When I had the MS evacuate I didn't count on them having more soldiers wondering around. I decided to set some explosives in the empty hanger to create a small diversion. And before you ask Duo, yes that worked. I made my way to the lab and stated searching, luckily the search didn't take long seeing that they had the vile labeled 'Serum P'. I pocketed the vile and was ready to get the hell out when a black out hit. Instead of waiting for my eyes to adjust to the darkness I tried to walk out. I ended up walking into a table and knocking something over. And that's the last thing I remembered before returning to the safe house."

"Did Heero tell you anything? How come he didn't really kill you?" The Arabian asked really quickly.

"He said that he hacked into some OZ files after he had gotten back from the hospital. When Trowa had informed him that you and I were nowhere in the safe house he became very suspicious of me. In the document he hacked into stated that the thing I had knocked over was a hypnosis drug."

"But you didn't drink or have it injected."

"Yes, but I did inhale it and it went straight to my brain. Apparently when the power came back I was dazed and some OZ soldier found me, plus the drug. The next thing I heard was 'when you here this sound, you will obey our commands'."

"What sound was it?"

"A very high pitched whistle. Think of it as a dog whistle, so high pitched that only dogs can hear it. The sound was so high, only I could hear it and when someone snapped their fingers I would return to normal. Heero didn't kill me because he figured he could fool OZ. It's been six months and I haven't run into any problems with his little plan."

"Are you still going to fight with us?"

"Not in direct combat. You see if I get too close to OZ they stand a very good chance of getting control of me again. But I'll be on the sidelines and instruct you in battle."

For once the braided American was speechless. He just stood and grabbed the bag of food. Finding his voice he spoke up, "It's good to see and know that you're alive, but we have to get back with this food before the perfect soldier has a fit."

Quatre stood as well, giving the Chinese boy a gentle smile. "We'll still see you, right?"

"Yeah, just as long as the safe house isn't near an OZ base."

"Before we go," the blond said softly. "could you answer one more question?"

"Shoot."

"Did you change your name along with your looks?"

"Well observed. Yes and it's J. Raziel." Duo arched an eyebrow. "Isn't that a little close to my 'Jade Raziel'?"

"You know very well that alias was mine. I'm guessing from that blood loss you had effected your memory."

He thought for a second. "So it did. See ya later."

His two friends said their good-byes and walked out. The black-haired teen neared the large window in the living room. Gazing down he found himself watching the other two boys leaving the property. Mindlessly he placed his left hand on the windowpane. "Good luck"
