Future Wars: Monk
Music by: Jean Baudlot

It should be obvious where this piece is from.

This is a complicated piece that may not sound  like much at first, but reveals more and more intricacies upon further listening.  Upon analysis, it rivals the introductory piece in complexity.  The Amiga version of this piece uses voice samples.  On FM, it is all but impossible to achieve any kind of voice-like sound.  What is used instead is a bright, scattery kind of waveform which is also used in many other pieces in the game.  The resulting FM sound is quite unique, basically a conglomerate of notes all smeared together due to the nature of the waveform as well as the nature of the music itself..  In fact, it is not clear when examining the composition whether or not seperate voices exist at all.  This is interesting because the impression of a fairly distinct melody (and perhaps even a bass line)  is heard even though the listener may have trouble figuring out the exact notes of the musical lines.

MIDI - Direct MIDI OUT recording.  Made General MIDI compatible.  Original MIDI for Roland MT32.
