I went to Boston recently, on business, and had the opportunity to go to Salem with friends living in the area.  What a great time!  There was suppose to be a parade of "Tall Ships" that day from Gloucester to Salem, but it ended up being just one ship.  We had a great time, though, and I've always thought the hysteria of the Witch Trials of 1692 to be fascinating.

The Witch Museum was a little hoaky...but well worth the $6 to get in just for that reason alone.  While there, I bought a great book on the subject and it's explained a lot about the psychology of the hysteria and the events as they happened.  19 people were hanged as the result of a group of bored teenagers and the foolish people that craved entertainment and a release from their everyday, puritanical lives.  Our society hasn't changed much, just the medium is different.  Hey...I know I was glued to the TV when OJ was on his "low speed" chase, and all during the trial too, for that matter.  The Columbine Trajedy had us all mesmerized, not to mention Oklahoma City.  The only difference between now and then is that Tom Brokaw substitutes for a group of girls who, long ago, cried Witch.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest...following are some pictures of my trip.  The town is adorable, actually, and there was a fair that day down by the pier with a band, food booths, etc.  It was fun.
