Born on july 03,1934 at khargone,Madhya pradesh,Shrikrishna mahajan did his schooling from khargone. He graduated from Birla college of science and commerce, (now known as Birla institute of technology and science),Pilani(Rajasthan) affiliated to university of Rajputana, Jaipur in 1955 and also did post-graduation in Botany from the same college, but now newly formed university of Rajasthan in 1957. He completed his Ph.D. on certain Ecophysiological aspects of Trianthema portulacastrum Linn.from Vickram University,Ujjain in 1990.

     Prof. Mahajan served as a lecturer in Botany at Govt. college, Piparia during 1966-75 and then was transferred to Govt. post-graduate college, Khargone, where he worked as a Prof. of Botany for few years and retired as principal of Govt. college, Rajpur in 1994.

1. Qualifications: B.Sc. (University of Rajputana, Jaipur, 1955), M.Sc.( Botany), University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, 1957& Ph.D. (Vikram University, Ujjain, 1990).
2. Research Experience: Engaged in research work since 1957 and have done extensive work on Angiosperm Taxonomy, Ecology, Phycology, Water Pollution and Ethnobotanical studies. So far published more than 90 research papers in National and International journals. An approved Ph.D. guide in Botany of Vikram University, Ujjain and have also worked as Ph.D. examiner of some Universities in past few years.
3. Teaching Experience : Under -graduate classes -32Yrs. P.G.Classes -18 Yrs.
4. Outstanding Contributions : Pioneer to start the research work on Cyanobacteria and Ethnobotany in West Nimar District, a tribal area of M.P.
5. 12. Current Activities : Recently Dr.Mahajan has created a new species of Spirulina (=Arthrospira) , a blue green alga collected from temporary pond of Govt. P.G. College , Khargone and it has been named as Spirulina mahajanii(=Arthrospira mahajanii). A note on this new species is accepted for publication in the Short Descriptions Section of the Journal of Bombay Natural History Society
