Fairy Story Chapter One
In a small town called Twina Town. A town with only about a thousand residences a young girl was waiting for her parents to drive up before Jognal Elementary School. At the front of the school there were cars going by. Adults were walking. Some were heading home. Others were heading for the school and picking up their children. Off in the distance, the town clock was there standing straight and tall. At the school, this girl who was seven years old was wearing a beige colored school uniform, beige skirt and white blouse and black shiny shoes, her legs crossed at the ankles and talking animatedly. The little girl had cocoa colored skin, brown eyes that were twinkling as she was talking to a group of other girls sitting before the front door of the school. The girl's name was Jewel Tavers. The other two girls sitting next to her were Lilia Turner and Kathy Mooreson. Before the girls were able to change subjects, a dark colored station wagon stopped.
"Gotta go. Bye Lilia, bye Kathy," Jewel called out jumping from her seat and rushing over to the car. Inside was her mother, Mrs. Selina Tavers. Mrs. Tavers was wearing a blue skirt with white blouse. She was a beautiful woman with cocoa colored skin, brown eyes, and a slim figure. Even though she had eight children, of whom Jewel was the last, her figure was the same. Mrs. Tavers was an assistant executive at a large corporation in town.
"How was school?" Mrs. Tavers asked. Her voice was low, yet sexy. She sounded like she was a singer. Her voice was that of a singer's voice.
"Nothing much. The usual school stuff," Jewel answered.
The little girl took out her math book from her backpack and began doing her homework. Her mother would stare at her daughter every so often, a smile on her lips. Jewel is such a beautiful child. I just hope she doesn't discover the secret. I want her to be as innocent as she is now, Mrs. Tavers was thinking to herself. Driving on, through the town Jewel was doing her homework while Mrs. Tavers was driving home.
Pulling up in the driveway of the two storey light-green colored house with the white shingles along the windows, Mrs. Tavers turned off the motor. Jewel climbed out of the car with her mother and began making their way up to the door.
"Mommy, why are you so serious?" Jewel asked her mother. Mrs. Tavers practically jumped at her daughter's question. She had no idea that her daughter was so perceptual. Then she blinked. What if? She thought. Then mentally shaking her head she turned to her youngest daughter and spoke, "Jewel sweetie, there are things you have to find out for yourself."
"Mommy, what's going on?" Jewel asked in question. Mrs. Tavers smiled and hugged her daughter. "Let's not talk about this now, okay?" Mrs. Tavers said. Mother and daughter went up to the door where Mrs. Tavers unlocked the front door and they entered the house. The interior of the house was clean. Everything was in its own little place. Mrs. Tavers loved cleanliness in her household. Thought she had children, keeping the house clean was a twenty-four hour chore for her but she managed that and caring for her family and working at her job.
Inside, Jewel headed straight for her room that was upstairs. Mrs. Tavers had removed her blazer and hung it up in the hall closet. Then she went into the kitchen where she began cooking dinner. Minutes later, found seven other kids come running inside. These were Jewel's older brothers and sisters. Their names were Jolene who was a twelve-year old chocolate skinned serious girl with glasses, Arnea, who was a ten-year old chocolate skinned girl with a smile on her face, Raina who was a nine-year old girl with laughing brown eyes, Caren who was a thirteen year old girl. The three boys were Eric, a skinny thirteen-year old boy. He looked just like Caren enough to be her twin, that of which he was. The next boy was fairly skinny but one of his teeth was missing. He was Anthony and he was eight years old. The last boy was wearing a baseball mitt and he kept hitting it with his hand. He was ten and looked like a male version of Arnea. His name was Jackson. The six kids ran into the house tossing down their backpacks on the floor next to the door and raced through the house making noises. Laughing and giggling. Mrs. Tavers came out of the kitchen to see her children running and laughing in the house.
"How many times do I have to tell you children not to run in the house!" Mrs. Tavers called out, her voice reaching the seven children. They stopped.
"Sorry mom," Arnea said to her mother. The others nodded. Mrs. Tavers headed back to the kitchen to finish dinner.
That night at nine fifteen, Mister Alex Tavers came home. Mister Tavers was a tall muscular chocolate colored man with some gray in his hair. He was wearing a dark colored suit and was carrying a briefcase. He entered using his key and was accosted by eight blurs. His children. They were waiting for him to come home.
"Ahh! How are my kids!" Mister Tavers said to the eight. He picked up his youngest, Jewel and swung her around in the air. Mister Tavers was extremely strong. Before meeting his wife, he was a pro wrestler and had won many matches. He had been known as the Road Warrior until he met Selina. Then the Road Warrior had his last fight and retired though he still retained his title.
"And what have you kids been doing? Been good?" Mister Tavers asked them. Eight yes's were shouted out.
"Dinner's ready!" Mrs. Tavers called out from the dining room. The seven children ran toward the dining room as Mister Tavers carrying Jewel on his shoulders. There was a contended smile on the little girl's face. At the dinner table the family was eating. It was a noisy affair mixed in with giggles from the children and laughs from the adults. After dinner, the eight kids headed for the living room where they played video games for about an hour.
In the forests, a gypsy caravan was moving through. The gypsies were a lovely bunch who were magic welders. Even now in the middle of this forest, moving around the fires men and women both were performing magics. The most powerful of the gypsy was a woman named Nymphanta. She was a dark haired dark skinned woman of indeterminate age wearing a brightly colored gown with a white peasant blouse. A red scarf was tied about her hair. Nymphanta was the undisputed leader of the gypsy caravan because of her powers to see into the future. That night, they gathered around the campfire where Nymphanta told fortunes. Suddenly, amidst her fortune telling, Nymphanta went into a deep trance and began spouting some strange language that no one was able to understand or pronounce. The other gypsies were confused. But Nymphanta, on coming out of the trance realized that they must get to town as quickly as possible for trouble was coming. The gypsies began packing up their caravans and moving quickly out of the forest heading for the Kingdom of Montoase. It was to take them two days in which to reach the kingdom.
In a beautiful world filled with bird song, multihued flowers and a castle high atop a mountain. This world was filled with magic. Everyone was able to perform some small bit of magic. There were elves, imps, sprites, large rhino-like creatures wearing tunics and hose, and a spattering of humans. Looking out at the castle in the distance was the Valley of Gomakdan. In the valley, there was a castle. A beautiful castle made of stone. In this castle that was called Castle Montoase there lived a king, his wife, son, and daughter. This king was called Lien and he was a tall stately man of middle age with brown hair. King Lien had a sister who had left their world to pursue a life for herself. She went to Earth and became Selina Tavers. King Lien's wife Queen Ruala was a beautiful blue haired woman. Her skin was soft as a freshly painted wall with a slim hourglass figure. Queen Ruala bore the king two children, Prince Korvalian a handsome young boy of thirteen with a heavy stock of brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a rich dark blue tunic and hose and there was a sword sheathed at his side. Prince Korvalian being the oldest always acted like a gentleman. His sister Princess Garla was an exact replica of the Prince except for her brown eyes and blue hair that was in a long braid at her back. Princess Garla was ten and she was wearing a boy's tunic and hose. In her hand was a small sword. She had been learning to use the sword and had not yet put it away.
"Oh Garla. Swordery again," Queen Ruala said on a sigh after seeing the sword in the little girl's hand.
"Yes Mother. I want to learn," Princess Garla piped in her sweet voice. The little girl sheathed the sword at her side.
"You really sure be acting like a girl Garla," Prince Korvalian said. His voice was still high but tended to squeak at every other note. Princess Garla stuck her tongue out at her brother. "If I want to learn, I'm going to learn. So there!" Prince Korvalian sighed at his sister's childish behavior.
"Garla, why don't you go and change. We are expecting state visitors," Queen Ruala said.
"Yes Mother," Princess Garla answered. The princess left the throne room. Minutes later, Princess Garla had returned. She was wearing a rose pink gown with a light pink petticoat underneath it. There was a small gold tiara settled upon her blue hair that was fastened back out of her face with a pink bow. On her feet were a pair of dainty pink slippers. The little girl went over to her parents and brother who were seated on the thrones. There were four thrones. Two large sized and two small sized.
"Who are we expecting Mother?" Princess Garla asked.
"The Royal Wizard, Lanose. He has word about the Sorcerer Motanose," King Lien answered his daughter. Princess Garla wrinkled her pretty little nose at the mention of the sorcerer.
"But why can't Lanose defeat him?" the princess questioned.
"He doesn't use his powers for evil only good. All knows that," Prince Korvalian said with a smug smile at his sister.
Out in the town of Montoase, peasants and nobles alike were moving around. It was festival time and everyone were enjoying themselves. The children were laughing and running around while some of the adults were buying from the merchants selling their wares. Some people were performing magic in the streets for the enjoyment of the children and the spectators. Animals appearing, flowers showing spectators, were few and far between. Adults were clapping and tossing gold, silver, and copper coins to these magicians. Things were peaceful and happy. Even the children performed small magic with balls and other toys. The sprites and ogres and imps zipping around performing their own brand of magic. Suddenly, a dark cloud descended on the entire kingdom. People stopped what they were doing to look up. Then there was a loud crash of lightning causing the people to panic in fear.
