The cloud and the noise so frightened the townspeople that they didn't know what was happened. Then the cloud disappeared. They went about their business but something had changed. They were no longer able to use magic for the most simplest of chores. This really frightened the people.

"We must go to the king. He will know what to do?" shouts like this was cried out in the streets. The townspeople quickly began making their way to the castle. Shouting and panicked cries were heard as the townspeople were making their way to the castle. Meanwhile, in the castle before the cloud had arrived, the royal wizard, Lanose had entered. Dressed in a long flowing robe with strange glyphs, magical symbols all over entered the royal presence. Lanose was a stooped old man of indeterminate age. The white hair and beard made him to be about ninety but his twinkling blue eyes and spryness in his step made him younger. In his right hand was a staff. The staff had a carving of a gold lion's head. The staff was one source of his power. He bowed before the royal family.

"My King, the sorcerer Motanose has been freed from his confinement up in the Dark Mountains," the wizard began. His voice a rich vibrant crealto. The king practically jumped up from his throne.

"What? How could this have happened?" he exclaimed in question. His voice bellowing out in the entire throne room. The Queen gently laid a hand on her husband's arm to calm him. He sat back down.

"Continue Lanose," the king answered calmly through clenched teeth.

"I will show you how it happened my King," Lanose said. The King nodded. Lanose held his staff out and began mumbling a spell. The lion's head carving on his staff began glowing. Then a smoke ring appeared. Within the smoke ring there was a place. An ancient dark castle in the middle of some dark mountains. The castle was black with pointed towers that looked like knives shooting up into the sky. The sky was dark with black birds flying around. An evil omen. For the dreaded Horcana birds symbolized all the evil that was in that castle. Inside the castle there was a massive coffin-like box in the center of the main hall. And inside that coffin was a fairly young man of about thirty years. He was wearing black and there was a small skeleton spine with a black ruby on top. The man's face was fixed in an expression of hate, grimace, and malice at all who seemed to look down at him. This was the sorcerer Motanose. At one point, Motanose had sought the hand of King Lien's grandfather's sister's in marriage but she had refused him. He had sought vengeance and was trying to figure out a way to take all the magic from the land. He discovered a way but was failed before he was able to begin the spell. The thirteen wizards of Furahaven had imprisoned him in the dark castle for all eternity. All of this was revealed to the royal family in the smoke ring of Lanose.

"Then what can we do?" Queen Ruala asked as the smoke ring dissipated. The wizard looked to her, brows lowered deep in thought.

"There is one way. The Chosen One is the only hope. The one with the power of the fairy," the wizard answered. King Lien sighed for he knew that Lanose was right and only his sister's youngest daughter was their only hope. Queen Ruala looked over at her husband. She felt with him on his making of the decision to bring his sister back from where she had made her own life. King Lien looked up and said, in a tone of profound regret, "Do it. Summon my sister and her family." Lanose nodded and began the incantation. The incantation was extremely long with much waving of the hands. Then he stopped. For awhile nothing happened. Then a glowing ball of light appeared in the center of the throne room. The ball of light became more transparent allowing the royal family to see what was on the other side.

What the royal family was seeing was a neighborhood with very few people walking around. There were houses with cars in the driveway. There were even some cars parked at the curb of the street before certain houses.

Whats that? Princess Garla asked pointing at the street.

That is where your aunt lives now, the wizard spoke.

Really, the girls eyes widen in astonishment. The wizard only nodded. Then the picture changed. It showed a woman locking up inside a house. The woman was Mrs. Tavers.

Whos that? Prince Korvalian asked his father. King Lien, at first didnt answer. He was staring at his sister and there was such love in his eyes. Queen Ruala looked over at her husband and smiled. Its nice that he can see his sister. She looks quite well. She thought to herself. King Lien looked over at his son. There were tears in his eyes and in his voice.

Thats your Aunt, son. My sister, he said slowly. Prince Korvalian turned over at his father on hearing the kings voice. Korvalian saw the tears in his fathers eyes as he stared at his sister. Mrs. Tavers moved away from the door and went upstairs to her childrens room. She started at the oldest, tucking them in and kissing them on the forehead. Finally, the Royal Family saw Mrs. Tavers enter her youngest daughters room. The little girl was sound asleep, sprawled diagonally across her bed, a large chocolate skinned doll was in the little girls arms. The small child was dressed in blue pajamas with pokemon sheets around her at her feet in a tangle. Mrs. Tavers moved over to her daughters bed, and tucked the sheets around her small daughter, kissed her on the forehead, and left the room. Now, Mrs. Tavers was making her way to bed. The wizard Lanoses voice changed. It became deeper more obtuse. Mrs. Tavers joined her husband in bed and was soon fast asleep.

From outside the house, through the closed curtains hanging from the windows a bright glow appeared. Minutes later the glow faded and disappeared. The Tavers family was also gone. The wizard Lanose opened his eyes and dropped his hands. It is done, he declared. There was a note of satisfaction in his voice. He was smiling. Then the smile dropped and he gasped. The king looked over at his wizard in concern.

Lanose! What is it? the King asked.

The magic! The magics gone from the kingdom and its spreading! the wizard gasped. Suddenly, the wizard began fading. Princess Garla shrieked and ran to her mother in fear. Prince Korvalian stood there bravely but even he too was scared of what was happening. King Lien jumped to his feet and rushed out of the throne room. His destinationto his sister and her family.

In the royal dining hall, the Tavers family was sound asleep. After the glow had deposited the family there. Now, they were curled up together. Mrs. Tavers was the first to awaken. She opened her eyes. Looking around, then she became aware that she was not in her bedroom with her husband. She was elsewhere. Mrs. Tavers continued to look around. What? Where am I? She thought to herself. Then she looked again and saw her family around her. What is this?! she wondered in a panic. Before taking deep breaths, she leaned over and woke her husband.

Alex? Alex wake up? Mrs. Tavers said urgently. Mister Tavers opened his eyes and saw his wife looking at him. Her brown eyes worried.

Huh? What? What is it Selina? he asked her sitting up. Then his eyes widened on seeing that they were no longer in their bedroom back at the house.

Whats going on? he questioned in shock. His voice rising an octave or more. Mrs. Tavers covered his lips with a hand indicating with her head, the children still asleep near them. Then she got to her feet.

Not here. Come with me, she whispered to him. He nodded and also got to his feet. They moved away from the sleeping children before stopping. Mister Tavers turned to look at his wife.

Now, what is going on here? Where are we? he asked her. Mrs. Tavers stared at him for awhile knowing where they were but not knowing how to tell her husband. She sighed inaudibly before deciding to just go right out and saying it.

Were in the kingdom of Montoase where I was born, she began. Mister Tavers was shocked. He had no idea that his wife was of another world. Mrs. Tavers went on to explain to her husband how she had wanted to leave and find a life elsewhere. That here she had a brother who was the king of this land and that she left all she knew here to begin anew. All through this Mister Tavers was listening in shocked silence. He still couldnt believe it.

But why didnt you tell me? he asked her. She lowered her head in embarrassment before answering, because I didnt know you loved me or not if you knew the truth. Mister Tavers took her in to his arms and held her.

Silly, I do love you. Youre my other half. Youre my whole life. And I will always love you.

Really? she asked.

Really, he answered. He kissed her long on the lips to prove to her once and for all just how much he loved her.

Over where the children were sound asleep still, a strange glow had encircled little Jewel and a change was beginning to come over the little girl. The two adults were still oblivious to this but a power was beginning to awaken in the little girl; the power of the fairy. King Lien was standing outside the dining hall. He took a deep breath and opened the doors. It was Mrs. Tavers who had first noticed his entrance.

Lien? What is going on here? she asked him. Mister Tavers stared at his wife in shock. How could she know this strange man unless A strange thought occurred in his mind. Could she be playing him false? Could this strange man be a boyfriend or husband, perhaps? Mister Tavers got to his feet menace written on his face. Mrs. Tavers noted the violence in her husbands face and sought to restrain him.

No Alex, its not what youre thinking?! she protested. Mister Tavers stopped and stared at her.

Then what? he asked her, anger and violence mixed in his voice. His muscles bunching underneath his pajamas top. Mrs. Tavers laid a hand on him before speaking, this is my brother, King Lien.
