Episode Four

Fataligeese looking for power

STAR DATE 71643.321

Out in the serene peacefulness of space, a starship is making its leisurely way through. The ship is the Federation Starship Omega, an Earth Federation ship so far from home.

ONBOARD THE SHIP

It is night on the bridge, the crew of the USS Omega are busy when a signal is picked up by the Communications Officer.

"I'm picking up a signal," the Communications Officer spoke up, hands rapidly moving over its console. The Officer of the night looks back at the Communications Officer, who's a tall humanoid male, furred hands, a face more human and who goes by the name of CHARTUS.

"Can you identify the signal? Where's it coming from?" the officer of the Night asks Chartus.

Ensign Chartus is trying to find out where the signal's coming from. His dark hands moving rapidly over the console before stopping and looking over at the Officer of the Day, "Sir, it seems to be coming toward us at warp ten."

"Warp 10?!"

The Communications Officer nods at the Officer of the Day, "Yes sir."

"Can we escape it?" the Officer asks, looking at the Navigator.

"No," the Night Helmsman said.

The Officer of the Day sighs realizing he would have to awaken the senior Officers to apprise them of the situation.

"Sir?" the Communications Officer asks.

"Wake the Senior Officers. Let them know what's going on."

"Aye sir," the Communications Officer answers.

SOMETIME LATER

CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER with her second in command, COMMANDER BORTH steps on the bridge, exiting from the jefferies tube from the left. They move over to the center where a long, sofa/chair is.

"You find the signal?" Captain Twinner asks. The ship's Communicatios Officer, ENSIGN TOOMAR first does a scan before answering,

"Aye Captain. And it is coming at us, fast."

"Let's see it," Captain Twinner responds.

"Aye Captain," Helmsman TED PRESTON said.

The screen in front of them now shows the blackness of space, planet everywhere. A twinkling star/planet is seen that with each second seems to get bigger. It does get bigger.

"What is it? Can you get a fix?" the captain asks staring at the object.

The Science Officer, a muscular dark skinned human male is silent for awhile before looking up and over at the captain.

"Nothing captain. There seems to be no life." the science officer began. Then a beep is heard causing the science officer to look at his console. "Captain?! I'm getting a signal!"

Captain Twinner quickly looks at him, "What?!"

"It's coming from that planet," the science officer answers. With a frown, Captain Twinner looks back at the forward screen where the planet is, practically filling the entire screen.

The Enterprise Omega continues onward, toward the ship.

Some distance away the planet resolves into something else. A spheroid shaped ship roughly the size of a ball only larger than the Omega. Scanners had picked up on the change. Captain Twinner get to her feet,

"Hail that ship. Let's see what have we got."

"Aye Captain," the Communications Officer said, hands moving for a second or two before looking over at her, "Channel open, Captain."

"This is Captain Shirleen Twinner of the Federation Starship Omega...."

Before Shirleen can say anything else, the ship lurches violently. Everyone attempts to regain their balance. Shirleen looks over at Tactical.

"Was that a phaser blast?"

The Tactical Officer Luiteninent Zun looks to his station before speaking,

"Yes Captain.... Shields at 98%."

The planet shifts and pulsates for awhile before exploding outward in a shower of light causing everyone on the bridge of the Omega to cover their eyes.

The bright light fade and disappears revealing a battleship. Massive seemingly tough but so as the Omega. Blue black in color with a long oval shaped body(think oval ball shape). The planet turned ship begins emitting some kind of strange frequency causing everyone on the Omega to stop what they're doing and clutch at their heads.

On the bridge, with hands clutching their heads including the captain in pain.

"What--is--this--?!"she exclaims teeth clenched. "Scan?!"

The Tactical Officer begins scanning the other ship. He too is effected by the frequency.

"Scanners are picking up multiple frequencies coming at us..."

"Multiple?" Commander Borth asks. Luintenant Zun nods.

Now the frequency gets more intense causing everyone on board to collapse from the strain.

"Beam outs coming from the other ship. We are being boarded." the computer blares all over the ship as transport signatures coming from the bridge and engineering.

Two groups of beings called the Fataligeese, tall humanoid beings, slick slippery greenish skin, duck ears with large mouths and small beady eyes move around the ship.

The ones on the bridge first move over to the computers, where they download the ship's mission log. What they end up getting is an accounting of what and where the ship's been. Another Fataligeese, with something in his hands is moving among the unconscious. When the device begins beeping like crazy, he stops.

"Saygott, something strange is going on here."

The Fataligeese he is talking to looks up from the computer. He's wearing a blue sash with gold strips along the sash, a symbol of his exhaulted station as Saygott or Leader.

"Well what is it, Brunan?" he asks.

"High readings of power coming here," the being holding the device, Brunan answers.

The Saygott of the Fataligeese quickly moves over to the other.

"Yes?" he question. "Where?"

Brunan indicates the Captain with the device.

"Her, Saygott."

"Bring her." the Saygott says moving away. "And make sure we got five others for the market."

Brunan takes up Shirleen Twinner and joins his Saygott as they teleport off the ship. Along with the captain, the Fataligeese have taken a total of five other crewmen off the ship.

SOMETIME LATER

on the Omega, the crew regains consciousness.

"Captain?" Commander Borth speaks on regaining consciousness, discovering that the captain's gone. "Computer, where's Captain Twinner?"

A soft beep and the computer answers, "the captain is not on board."

"Is there anyone else missing, Computer?" he asks.

"A total of five crewmen are not on board."

"Computer, who are the five missing crewmembers along with the Captain?" Commander Borth questions.

"Dora Burkly, Ensign Gar, Luitenant Cassidy, Christabel Turner and Ensign Chris Role are not on board."

Commander Borth listens before speaking again. This time to the crew who are watching him.

"We have to find the Captain and our missing crew."

Commander Borth touches his computer console.

"Cooper, have you any answers about those frequencies that rendered everyone on the ship unconscious?"

"On looking back the frequencies were designed to put us out. There were at least fifty different frequencies we were hit with. I've also discovered that our computers have been downloaded," Chris Cooper, the Ship's Engineer's voice came over the ship's intercom system.

"What did they get?" Commander Borth asks.

"The ship's mission and journey logs."

Commander Borth thoughtfully rubs his chin area.

"What were they looking for?" he wonders.

"Commander, I am picking up a warp signature. Could be from the ship that took the captain and our crew," Ted Preston said.

Commander Borth looks over at him.

"Let's follow it then."

"Aye Commander," Ted answers, handing moving across his console.

ON BOARD THE FATALIGEESE'S SHIP

the five crewmembers regain consciousness to find themselves in a type of darkened brig.

"Where are we?" Dora Burkly, a brown haired, brown eyed woman of Latino birth asks looking around their prison.

Ensign Gar, a member of the Chanash people moves over to the front but is stopped by the energy bars.

"Well we can't get out this way."

Luetinent Cassidy, Christabel Turner, and Chris Role nod in agreement.

"Role, you have some engineering knowledge right?" Luetinent Cassidy spoke making it a question.

Chris Role looks at her. He had no idea they knew about his engineering background. He had been trying so hard to keep that part of his life a secret which is why when he got a tour of duty on board the Omega he made sure not to mention that part. He was a medical assistant now, nothing more. He should have known that they would have done a thorough check on him, discovering that knowledge.

"Yes."

He moves over to the energy bars, examining them. He notes their make and a possible way of getting around them. What he discovers brings a smile to his lips.

WITH THE FATALIGEESE

who're moving around a still unconscous Captain Twinner. The frequency used on her was the same for all humans but with a minor modification. Not wanting the dormant power within her to help her regain consciousness, they were forced to make some adjustments. Unfortunately, they may have went a bit too far.

"The others have regained their senses Saygott. Why not this one?" the Fataligeese Officer inquired. The two are standing around a bundle on the floor of the semidark room. Around, there are computer console and in the center is a seat for the Saygott. The figure on the floor has her hands bound behind her back in energy shackles.

The Saygott steps closer to the figure revealing Captain Twinner's face. Eyes closed, still unconscious. Then he turns to face Brunan,

"Were you picking up those readings from this one?"

Brunan steps forward and nods. The Saygott looks closely at Shirleen. There seems to be some kind of energy radianting from her.

"She will bring an excellent price in the market," he answers leaning over to finger her cheek.

"What about the others, Saygott?" another Fataligeese asks causing the Saygoot and Brunan to face him.

"They too will fetch an excellent price. Not as much as this one but enough. This one has a dormant power that no one would be able to resist."

The Saygott moves away from the others, takes Shirleen by the elbows and drags her away to her own cell on the first deck of their ship where he keeps all prisoners/slaves to be sold. The other Fataligeese go about their duties getting their ship to its destination.

THE ENTERPRISE OMEGA

the crew is frantically seeking to find their missing captain and the crewmembers taken off the ship.

"Commander, I'm picking up a warp signature. Its like the one we picked up earlier," Zun of Tactical suddenly said.

Borth quickly looks at Zun, "can you find out where the signal's heading for?"

"Aye Commander," Zun replies.

"Good. Soon as you do, send the coordinates to Helms." Borth declares.

"Aye Commander," Zun answers.

The starship Omega begins following the warp trail. This will take them days before reaching their final destination.

WITH THE FIVE CREWMEMBERS

Role had finally shut off the energy bars of their cell using a control panel nearby. Now they are standing outside their cell.

"We need to find a way to contact the Omega," Cassidy said once the five are on the outside of their cell.

The five move, bypassing numerous tables and such. The entire place is filled with assorted junk by their standards. They make their way out of the prison cells completely missing Captain Twinner, in her cell still unconscious.

SOMETIME LATER

the Fataligees's ship docks at a orbital station. Many alien crafts dock and leave from this station. Nine Fataligeese go to the prison cells where the five crew members are locked away once more.

They had been caught trying to contact their ship by two Fataligeese. There was a small skirmish as the crew members put up a fight. But in the end, they failed and were returned to another cell. This one where they couldn't get out of.

"Hold! Or she dies!" the Saygott announced in a loud voice. Two other Fataligeese had been holding Shirleen by the arms in an upright position for the crew to see.

The five saw the captain and relunctantly gave up. The Fataligeese returns the five to a cell. Once the energy bars were in place,

"What about our captain?!" Ensign Gar demands.

"She will NOT be with you," the Saygott answers. The Fataligeese leave the five alone, the Captain held by the Fataligeese going with them.

"What are they going to do with the captain?" Dora wonders.

"I don't know. But what's going to happen to us?" Cassidy inquires.

"Yes?" the other four nod.

Now, sometime later the Fataligees return to lead the five out of their cells onto the orbiting station. They are 'chained' together.

"Hey look! It's the captain!" Cassidy says loudly. The other four looks to see Shirleen being carried on a litter with four Fataligeese holding the ends of the litter. She's still unconscious and had been throughout the trip.

THE CREW OF THE OMEGA

who had been following the warp trail to the orbiting station. A full stop away from the station as a team is sent to the station.

Now, moving through the crowded station filled with alien beings and what seems to be slaves, the Away Team is disgusted.

"Let's hurry up, find the captain and our crewmembers and get out of here," Ted Preston whispers.

The Away Team continues their search.

On a platform, the litter baring the captain is taken away by some human-like beings called the Luminars. They had seen the luminous glow emmitting from her and had bid the highest.

The Away Team spot the five about to be taken away again.

Its during the changeovers when Shirleen regains consciousness.

"What? What is going on? Where's my ship?" she exclaims sitting up from on the litter.

"Its the captain," Ensign Toomar said, hearing her voice.

Captain Twinner jumps off the litter as a Luminar grabs her by the arm but Shirleen jerks her arm out of its grasp. The five crew members get away from their captors, joining Shirleen.

The Away Team quickly goes to them.

"Captain!? You okay," Commander Borth's voice comes to her ears. She looks over at them.

"I'm fine," she said looking at him and the others. She recognizes Ted Preston and Ensign Toomar.

The group face Captain Twinner, the crewmembers and the Away Team.

"We can't let them any closer," Commander Borth said as the aliens begin surrounding them.

The Enterprise Group are now completely surrounded.

"I am Captain Twinner of the Federation starship Omega. Why are we here?"

"We own you!" from the Luminars and the beings who had the five crew members.

"Who told you that?!"

"The Fataligeese!"

"No. You own nobody! The Fataligesse boarded my ship and removed us against our will," Shirleen explains. The alien beings turn and now begins to head for the Fataligeese in complaint.

"I do believe this is where we depart," Shirleen declares looking at Commander Borth.

"I agree Captain," he said tapping the combadge once, "Omega, nine to beam up."

They disappear as they're beamed back aboard the Omega and the ship moves out of the area.

MUCH LATER

Captain Twinner is in her rec room, a cup of tea in hand. With her is Commander Borth.

"So, you don't remember a thing since the Fataligeese took you from the ship?"

Shirleen, taking a sip from the cup and looking at her First Officer, "No, I didn't. And its strange...."

"How's that?"

"I could sense something was wrong and couldn't do anything about it. It was as if I was prevented," she said and set the cup down on the table before her looking at him thoughtfully.

Commander Borth looks at her as he gets to his feet.

"Well, I guess we'll find out the reason....One day."

"Yes. We will," she replies.

Commander Borth leave as Shirleen picks up her cup of tea, sits down once again and looks out the window at the vastness of space.

The End

Notes: Whew! That has got to be the longest for this Star Trek I've written anyway.... So far. Look for episode five and the continuing saga with this new crew of the Enterprise Omega. What do you think about it? I'm open to all suggestions and comments.
