A MASSIVE SHIP IS SEEN COMING FORWARD
moving through the vastness of space. This ship is a modified version of the Enterprise. The ship moves onward trying to find its way to its own Universe.
INSIDE THE SHIP, A WOMAN WEARING A FEDERATION UNIFORM IS SEATED BEFORE A DESK,
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER is reading from a small computerized notepad, the duty roister for the day. A soft beep beep sounds causing Shirleen to look up.
SHIRLEEN: Enter.
The door slides open and COMMANDER BORTH enters. A tall Borathan with green skin and silver streaked horns sticking out of his black hair and slitted black eyes.
COMMANDER BORTH: Captain, still no word on communicating with the Federation. There are no answers to our subspace fields.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: There has got to be a way. And we will find it.
COMMANDER BORTH(nods): Yes Captain. (noting the small computerized notepad before her on the desk.) Is that the duty roister?
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Yes. See to it that they're taken care of.(Hands the notepad to her First Officer.)
COMMANDER BORTH: Aye Captain.
Captain Twinner nods as Commander Borth leaves. Now, Shirleen gets to her feet and moves over to the small window to the left of her desk. She looks out.
CAPTAIN SHIRLLEN TWINNER: We WILL find a way back. I promise you.
ON THE BRIDGE
The Captain and the bridge crew are there. The forward screen is revealing space. Then the ship gives a violent lurch to the left.
CAPTAIN SHIRLLEN TWINNER: What was that?!
Ted moves his hands across the console as do Feraga in Navigation, Zun, in Tactical.
TED PRESTON: Captain scanners are picking up a ship....
Now as Ted said that, a ship comes into view. It is small like a small flying bird. Closer scan, the ship has phaser burns all along it.
ZUN: Looks like the ship was in some kind of fight. There are numerous phaser shots along the hull. No weapons that we can see....
FERAGA: Captain I'm picking up lifeforms. Three. One is injured....
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Get a lock on them and beam them to sickbay.
ZUN: Aye Captain.
SOMETIME LATER, CAPTAIN TWINNER AND COMMANDER BORTH ARE IN SICKBAY WITH THE THREE WHO WERE BEAMED ABOARD THE SHIP
the doctor is examining one of them now as the other two are sitting on a couple of other beds.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What is it doctor?
DOCTOR SHORUN: They have been in a battle. This one was hurt a bit more than the other two. There are phaser burns all over its arms and legs. I was able to take care of that.
COMMANDER BORTH: Will they be all right?
DOCTOR SHORUN: Oh, they'll be just fine.
Before anyone can say anything more, one of the beings, a short male-like being with dark blue hair and strange sticks sticking out of his hair. He looks over at them.
ALIEN BEING(speaks in its own laguage but the translater on the ship translate): Thank you for helping us. Where are we?
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(moving over to him): This is the Federation Starship Omega. I am Captain Twinner, Captain of this starship. Who attacked you?
ALIEN BEING(looking over the captain and noting something different about her. And not that she's different from them): We were attacked by the Trinaians. They sought to force us to give them our riches.
Shirleen is silent for a few seconds. The alien being gets up and slowly makes his way around sickbay. The female with him.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: You are strangers, are you not?
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(looking over at the two before speaking): Yes. Strangers from a far off Universe....
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: And you seek to find your way home?
Now everyone in sickbay except the aliens are struck dumb. They each look at each other, questions in their eyes before looking back at the aliens.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: It is not so difficult to read. Your ship is more advanced than the Trinains and our own. Surely you would hold great strategic power in any battles that you might be engaged in.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Well it is true. But we prefer not to involve ourselves in another world's battle. We are directed by the Prime Directive.
MALE ALIEN BEING(nods): Yes. That too would be so.
Now the third alien being steps away from the bed where the doctor had completed her examinations. He moves over to his complanions staring at the captain.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: I take it that it is you that we have to thank for saving our lives?
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: That is correct. Yes.
The second male alien being moves over to the Captain as Commander Borth makes a step forward in a kind of protest. The Captain notes this and indicates to him that all will be all right. Commander Borth nods but he is ready for anything.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Tell me, where are you heading?
COMMANDER BORTH(speaks first): We are trying to find our way home after we were sent to this Universe.
The three aliens nod.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: You are welcome to stay with us until we reach your home planet.
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING(inclines his head): I thank you. Our world is not too far from your present course. In fact, we are indeed quite close.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Then we will see you to your home planet. (indicates Commander Borth) My First Officer, Commander Borth will escort you to your temporary quarters.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING(inclines his head in a bow): I thank you.
Shirleen nods and leaves sickbay. She heads for the bridge leaving Commander Borth with the three aliens.
COMMANDER BORTH: Come with me.
The First Officer moves over to the door as it slides open revealing the hallway of the ship. The three aliens are fascinated by the door but they follow the Commander. The door closes behind them.
Commander Borth turns to the left followed by the three alien beings. Along the sides as they pass, the three alien beings note the windows showing space and other doors like the one they had gone out of. Commander Borth escorts the three to their temporary quarters. He opens the door and steps in. They do the same.
COMMANDER BORTH: These are your quarters during your stay with us.(moves over to one wall and indicating a computer setup with a cleared spot. He presses a button as some food and drink appears. The three alien beings practically crowd him to see.) This is the replicator. Just tell it what kind of food you prefer and the computer will replicate it.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Amazing!
COMMANDER BORTH: How far is your planet from our present spot?
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING(on sniffing at a small glass of water): It is only about two days journey.
Commander Borth nods, turns on his heels and leaves the three alien beings alone.
WITH THE ALIEN BEINGS ALONE NOW
they gather around each other.
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING: Did you feel the power radiating from the captain of this vessel?
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: Yes. It is most powerful but quiet dormant.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: But this ship is a marvel, a technological marvel and commanded by a female.
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING: Yes. This ship would destroy the Trinaians with one blow.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: But how will we convince this alien captain?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: There is a way.... But there is an obstacle, the First Officer. He does not trust us with his precious. Did you not see the way he acted with us?
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING: That I did. We must plan carefully then.
The other two only nods as they explore the quarters that they had been given.
ON THE BRIDGE OF THE SHIP
Captain Twinner enters and makes her way over to her seat.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Set a course for 0045. We have to help our guests reach their home planet.
TED PRESTON: Aye Captain.
The starship makes its way onward.
WITH THE THREE ALIEN BEINGS
they are looking around their quarters not being able to leave as they are two humans outside the door, Security. Now, the three gathers around the female.
FIRST MALE ALIEN: How are we to leave this place? The Captain on this ship have guards at the door.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: There is a way.... The Milok Power.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: But it is too dangerous for you. And if what I have sensed within that Captain is true, she will know....
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: We do not know if Zalzan has given his power to her or not.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: I felt it, Tolsis. It is there. Dormant within her but there. And surely we risk awakening it too soon.
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING: But we need that power to help us. She must help us.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Fear not. She will. Oh she will help us. (a strange smile lights her features.)
The three all smile at this. They remain in their quarters.
THAT NIGHT
With all day crew, including the Captain and First Officer asleep, the three alien beings continue to plan. Their plan calls for the Captain's helping them defeat their enemies and not with her ship, with the dormant power given to her by Zalzan.
The starship Omega makes its way to the alien beings' homeworld while the three aliens gathers around the female of their species. The female closes her eyes as the two males start humming in their deep voice. The humming gets louder and louder so that the guards, new ones this time, hear. Wondering what is going on, they begin to enter.
The guards open the door as a bright flash of orange light exits. The light is a large orange ball. Removing their hands from their eyes the two guards saw that the room is empty. Now they raise the alarm as KLAKTONS ring loudly.
IN THE CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS BEFORE THE ALARM
Shirleen is asleep calmly and peacfully. Then she begins tossing and turning. Her dream becomes strange.
WITHIN CAPTAIN TWINNER'S DREAM
Darkness. Shirleen is walking through the dark. She seems to be looking for something. What it is she has no idea.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(looking around): Hello? Where are you? Where am I? What is going on?
Then, a loud growl is heard. Shirleen turns around quickly. A strange black figure wearing a light colored object. The object is flapping in the wind. When Shirleen turns again, the wind is gone.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What IS going on here?
Now a voice is heard as it comes to her ears. It is a female voice and it seems to be calling her.
FEMALE VOICE: Shirleen, Shirleen run! You must flee!
The voice rises to a shout as the captain begins running. Something is now chasing her and there's noway to get away from it.
In her quarters, Shirleen is tossing and turning in her sleep. Then the KLAKTONS sound causing her to bolt up out of bed and out of the dream.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What?
She reaches over to press the communications panel.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What's wrong?
VOICE: Captain, the three aliens have left their quarters.
This completely awakens her. Duty calls.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(getting out of bed and putting on her robe): I'll be there.
VOICE: Aye captain.
Shirleen changes into her uniform and leaves her quarters.
OUTSIDE HER QUARTERS
Shirleen quickly makes her way to the bridge. Joined by her First Officer, the two quickly walks on.
COMMANDER BORTH: I heard that our alien guests have disappeared.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Yes. We have to find them, wherever they are.
Commander Borth only nods as the two reach the turbolift. The door slides open and they enter. Inside, the turbolift makes its way up to the bridge.
WITH THE THREE ALIEN BEINGS
they are moving around all over the ship. Now, they reach the captain's quarters and materialize inside the room.
FEMALE ALIEN BEIN(moving around): She's not here!
FIRST MALE ALIEN BEING: Ah of course she's not here. Most likely she's got security looking for us. We did, after all, escape from those quarters.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: Then what are we to do?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Return to those quarters assigned to us and wait.
The other two only nods as the ball of light reappears and heads back the way they had come.
ON THE BRIDGE OF THE STARSHIP
two from Security stand before the Captain, reporting that the aliens are nowhere on board. Then a beeping is heard over at Comunications. ENSIGN TOOMAR presses a button and listens.
ENSIGN TOOMAR: Captain, the aliens are back in their quarters?
The captain and the First Officer turns to look at the Ensign. Then they look at each other.
COMMANDER BORTH: Now, how can that be?
The Ensign presses a few minutes more before looking over at them.
ENSIGN TOOMAR: I don't know Commander, but they are there. Somehow.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(to the two security.): Send Security. I want those three to remain where they are.
Security nods and leaves.
TWO DAYS LATER
The starship Omega is orbiting a small class G type planet. The planet has a strange luminous quality to it. A Sun shining brightly some distance away.
IN TRANSPORTER ROOM ONE
Captain Twinner, her First Officer, Commander Borth and the three alien beings are there. There is a transporter engineer before the computer that will transport the three alien beings to their planet.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(to the three alien beings): Here is your planet. Be careful next time, all right.
SECOND MALE ALIEN BEING: To be sure, we shall be careful.
The first alien being and the female alien nods to each other as they throw the palms of their hands out forward. A forceshield surrounds both the captain and her First Officer.
COMMANDER BORTH(hands on the forceshield): What is the meaning of this?!
FEMALE ALIEN BEING(sadly): I have come to respect you and your crew Captain but my world MUST come first....
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What are you talking about?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Our world is in trouble....
COMMANDER BORTH: Does it warrant kidnapping the Captain and myself....
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Not you Commander. Your Captain.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What is the meaning of this?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING(sighing before beginning): Sometime ago our planet was invaded by the Gobanians. They demanded we find the being known as Zalzan and bring him to them or the Gobanians would destroy our world.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What does this have to do with us?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: You met Zalzan. If we don't find Zalzan then our world is destroyed. The Gobanians have a weapon, its a weapon that will destroy a world from the ground up.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Then let us help you.
COMMANDER BORTH: Why would these Gobanians want Zalzan?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Because he's the most powerful being in the galaxy. And now he's no more. We were wondering if...perhaps...maybe he transferred his powers to you, Captain.
Shirleen stares at the alien female with something akin to shock.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(shakes head): That is impossible!
Finally the group appears on the surface of the planet. Shirleen and Borth is in a cell with energy bars keeping the two inside. The three alien beings are gone. Borth moves over to the energy bars and tries to go through. The shock from the bars knocks him backward. Shirleen turns to him in concern.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Are you all right Commander?
COMMANDER BORTH(getting to his feet): Yes. Those energy bars are strong. Not even I was able to get through them.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Thats okay Commander. We'll find another way to get out of here. (touching the communicator device on her shoulder.) Omega, come in Omega. Omega, this is the Captain, come in Omega. (repeats three more times)
There is no answer. The Captain stops and looks around her eyes noting that the entire cell they are in is practically empty except for the two slabs standing horizontal.
The Captain moves over to the bars, Commander Borth stays close to her. On the other side of the bars, more alien beings are moving around busily.
EVENING ON THE PLANE
After several attemps at escape, the Captain and Commander Borth are seated on the horizontal platforms when a light seems to hover before their cell. The Captain is the first to notice the light. She gets to her feet and moves over to the energy bars.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(in a low voice): Who's there?
The light shines on the figure of the female alien they had helped. There's a look of worry on her face.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What do you want?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Shhh! I'm getting you out of here.
The noise woke Commander Borth who gets to his feet and saw the female fiddling with some controls. Then the energy bars disappear allowing the two to step out of the cell.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Why are you helping us escape now? I thought you wanted to use us to say your world.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Because it's the right thing to do. I couldn't go through with this. Its against everything I believe in. Now, come on. Let's get out of here.
The three begins to make their way out but are stopped by another group of male alien beings standing before the exit.
ONE OF THE ALIENS: We had a feeling that you would try something like this so we were prepared for you.
The female alien being doesn't say anything, she reveals a small device and presses the button. The group of aliens disappear and reappears in the cell, energy bars in place.
ONE OF THE ALIENS: You won't get away with this. You're condeming our world to destruction!
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Perhaps, but I will not give them up to the Gobanians just to save our world. Thats the coward's way out. (she turns to the captain and first officer) Let's go!
The three quickly makes their way out of the compound where the Captain and First Officer had been held.
OUTSIDE THE COMPOUND
The female alien being turns to the two.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Call your ship and go.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: What about you?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: I will return. Face my superiors.
Shirleen taps the com badge and nods to her First Officer. He nods back and casually moves over to the alien being.
CAPTAIN SHIRLELEN TWINNER(nodding again to her First Officer): Sorry, we can't let you risk your life for ours. Now!
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: What? Hey!
Commander Borth wraps his arms about the alien holding her in his grasp.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Transporter, three to beam up!
The three forms disappear as the transporter locks onto their combadges and signals.
BACK ON THE SHIP
The three are on the bridge. A ship is before them, the Gobarian ship.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Nooo! I must return.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Not an option. Leutinent Zun, lock on phasers to that ship's weapons array. Make sure they can not use their weapons on the planet.
ZUN: Aye Captain.
The female alien being watches this playing out as the bright beam of light strikes the ship rendering it harmless. Before they can do anything more, the other ship explodes. The Female being shakes her head.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Its ever their way. Whenever they're on a losing streak, they self destruct. (turns to the captain) Thank you for saving my world.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Its a pleasure. Do you wish to be returned to your world now?
FEMALE ALIEN BEING(looks at the screen where her planet floats sedately and shakes her head): No. I don't think so. Something tells me you and your crew will have many adventures as you try and find your way home. I was wondering if I may stay and join your crew?
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER(sizing the alien up first before nodding): Yes, you may stay.
FEMALE ALIEN BEING: Thank you. Oh and my name is ALIENA.
CAPTAIN SHIRLEEN TWINNER: Then welcome aboard Aliena.(looks to the helmsman.) Leutinent Preston, lets leave this system. Warp nine.
TED PRESTON: Aye Captain.
The ship's engines come on and the starship speeds away, heading for who knows where.
