Review from Bluegrass Unlimited March 2006
Limited Edition is a bluegrass aggregation from Newton Falls, Ohio, who has created an exciting collection with "The Old Freight Line..." Several of the 12 selections were penned by various bandmembers including the title song, "Katie Did," and "I Need Your Love." The band musical persona has a particular edge that imparts a surprising excitement to their performances, especially on such tracks as Josh Turner "Long Black Train," "Turn The Page" (the Bob Seger classic about a musician life on the road), and "Where Corn Don't Grow." Limited Edition has created an exotic offering of contemporary bluegrass that is sure to attract new fans by the truckload.

Limited Edition has released their sixth recording with Cross Roads Records and it's a good one! A major strength of The Old Freight tine... lies in the band's excellent song selection. The 12 numbers contain an interesting mix of the familiar with five originals. On the familiar side are Carl Jackson's "Erase the Miles" and Tim O'Briens "Hard Pressed," as well as a superior version of Kansas's "Dust in the Wind" and Bob Seger's "Turn the Page." Two songs ("Southern Paradise" & "Pretty Girl") were by Wayne Garrett, a brother to band members, Dan and Dave Garrett. The other originals include the title track and "Katie Did" by Dan and Dave. The mix and variety make this recording one of the bands strongest projects to date.
Members of Limited Edition are Dan Garrett, banjo and guitar, Dave Garrett, mandolin, Jim Meadors, bass, Chet Hogue, resonator guitar (singing bass vocal on "Erase the Miles"), and Ray Sponaugle, fiddle and viola. Even though there are no instrumentals, the musicianship is solid throughout. Dave sings the majority of lead vocals, but the brothers switch off throughout the project. Dave and Dan also switch around on the baritone and tenor parts. This is another way this, recording achieves variety and maintains interest. The power and magic of family vocals are especially evident on Dan and Dave's, "I Need Your Love."
The Old Freight Line... provides the listener with an interesting line-up of songs. The vocal work effectively brings out the feelings and emotions behind the lyrics of each song. Limited Edition provides you with a great deal of enjoyable listening one this album. LM
