The Forgotten Line

I fear that I'm getting Alzheimers
This happens to many old-timers
I get overwrought
When I lose a thought
So I fear I'm getting Alzheimers

I'm not really one of those whiners
But I think that my mind
Can be often unkind
Like it is when youve got Alzheimers
It happens to all the old-timers,
Ill have something to say
But then it gets away
Could it be that I have Alzheimers
When I act like one of those mimers
As I try to display
What my words cannot say?
I find that I need more reminders
When I make out a list
Something always gets missed
You get so confused with Alzheimers
You cant tell the majors from minors
Or youll be in your car
And not know where you are
So how can you cope with Alzheimers?
And thats how it is with Alzheimers
Many people think theyre two-timers
Its just they get harried
And forget theyre married
We all can develop Alzheimers
Be we homeless or social climbers
When it has your number
Youll get dumb and dumber
Because you are getting Alzheimers
Ive forgotten all my one-liners
And Ill lose a punch line
Like a fish off the line
As memory cedes to Alzheimers
I wont be one of those piners
For soon all my fear
Will just disappear
And What was I going to say?
If Im coming down with Alzheimers
Am I one of the nickel & dimers
That will, bit by bit,
Lose all of their wit?
I worry Im getting Alzheimers
Just like one of them there old-timers
I fear my gray matter
Is starting to scatter
So I think I have the Alzheimers
Like so many other old-timers
When my thoughts go unsung
On the tip of my tongue
Theres proof Im getting Alzheimers
Because unlike the other diners
Ive forgotten your name
See, my memorys gone lame
And I know its due to Alzheimers
Now convinced that Ive got Alzheimers
I find Ive begun setting timers
To remind me just when
To set timers again
It happens when we are old-timers
Our thoughts miss their train
As they leave the brain
It can even happen to rhymers
It will come to the time
When I search for a rhyme
And Ill know that I have Alzheimers
