DISTRIBUTORS OF WATER IN METRO MANILA
There are two distributors of water in Metro Manila:  Manila Water Company Inc.(MWCI) and Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI). Both of them took their share of water distribution from Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).  Manila Water handles the east zone while Maynilad Water hold the rest of the west zone.
Areas highlighted in green show the territory covered by Manila Water.  It  is shown that some parts of Rizal are also covered by Manila Water.
Maynilad Water services a population of 7.3 million while Manila water has 3.7 million.  The privatization of the water system of Metro Manila was valued at 7.5 billion dollars.  The two firms handling the east and west zone have 25 years to manage and operate the system.
Maynilad Water currently charges 24.42 pesos while Manila Water charges 6.76 pesos per cubic meter.  Both of these companies had increased their water rates three times last year.  The cause of the high water charge of Maynilad Water is due to numerous delayed water projects in the west zone.
