Since it was constructed in Bulacan in 1926,  the Angat dam has been playing a vital role in supporting agicultural production in the Philippines.  Presently the dam provdes water for 29,000 hectares in Central Luzon thereby contributing to the earning potential of roughly 90,000 farmers in the region.  It currently provides 97% of the water of Metro Manila.
