Regina Grading Scale:                                    Semester Grade:

90-100%             = A                                          1st Quarter Grade  = 37.5%

80-89%             = B                                          2nd Quarter Grade = 37.5%

60-69%            = D                                                                              100%

0-59%             = F

Directions & Example Calculation of Quarter Grade:

  1. Add up total points earned in grade category
  2. Divide by total points possible in that category (this is the average for the category)
  3. Multiply the average by the “weighted grade category” percentage (listed above)
  4. Add up the totals for each category

Tests & Quizzes:

(60pts + 58pts + 55pts + 50pts) / 240 pts possible       Average = 93%     x .40 = 37.20

Labs/ Projects:

(28pts + 32pts + 15pts + 65pts) / 150 pts possible       Average = 93%      x .30 = 27.90

Homework:

(25pts + 15pts + 33pts +  42pts) / 130 pts possible            Average = 88%      x .20 = 17.60

Participation:

(5 pts + 15 pts + 18 pts) / 40 pts possible                     Average = 95%      x .10 =   9.50

Quarter Grade     = 92.2% , A

Extra Credit:

If a student has no missing assignments for the quarter, she is eligible to do an extra credit assignment.  A list of extra credit assignments will be available on my classroom web site: “www.geocities.com/limavo”.   If all the requirements for the assignment are met, 2% will be added to the student’s quarter grade.  Due dates are listed on the website but, generally they are one week before the end of the card marking.

Assignments:

All assignments are to be turned in on time to receive full credit.  Late assignments will be marked down 20% for each day late.  Therefore, girls will have five days after the due date to turn in late work.  After 5 days, the assignment becomes a zero.  Also, any paper without a name will be marked down 10%. (Some homework assignments will be graded based on completion and others for correct answers.)

Learning Log:  We will start out each class period with a learning log entry.  As soon as the bell has rung, students are to copy the day’s agenda from the chalkboard onto their daily learning log.   Following the agenda, girls will write out the daily question and answer it.  A running log will be kept which will be collected periodically for a participation grade.

Make up Work:

For excused absences, it is the student’s responsibility to determine what work she has missed and to make it up within two days for every day absent.  A copy of the daily agenda can be obtained from any classmate the day they return from an absence.

There is a file box in the classroom which contains each week’s handouts / worksheets.  Students are to pull their assignments from the file box the day they return.

Tests are to be made up in the testing centers before or after school (room 310 in the a.m. and room 306 in the p.m.).  Make up quizzes are to be scheduled with me before or after school.  Most labs cannot be made up so please be present on lab days.  Reminder: Students have 2 days to make up their work and tests for each day they are absent.

Teacher Availability:

I am available to help students Tuesdays and Thursdays after school and Fridays before school.  Please let me know in advance if you will be coming and sign up on the calendar posted in our classroom.
