History of Voigtlander & sohn      Founded in 1756 by Johann Christopb Voigatlander in Vienna who made scientific instrument. His son Johann continue the business. In 1840, grandson Wilhelm design the first lens with speed of f3.7 follow with first quality camera using this lens.

The company moved to Braunschweig in 1849. Since then camera production became major company business until 1960 when a German camera maker Zeiss Ikon began buying over the company. It took over the company completely by mid 1960's.
