TORONTO RESTAURANTS 2002
ARIS They are located on Roncenvalles near the Royal Bank. This place is lovely. It has a home style atmosphere and the waitresses are so polite and freindly and cheerful. You can get a steak dinner with salad and choice of potatoe with a drink for under nine dollars! They have daily specials and it is good home cooked food! I don't care for their store bought pies. They are hard as a rock and taste like glue. My funny story of this place is. I ordered my steak dinner with chef salad.Their "salad" consists of lettuce and tomatoes. I wish they added more stuff to the salad! Anyways, I ordered the steak special and was busy reading the horoscopes in the Toronto Star when she brought me my meal. I grabbed my fork and was about to take a bite of my salad. My mouth dropped to the floor, here on my tomatoe slice was a baby caterpillar dancing across my food! I started to laugh and called the waitress over. I say " Hey! I ordered the steak and salad? but not the extra meat! and I pointed to the tomatoe, so she leans down and says,"Oh my god!", and turned three shades of red. "I'm so sorry", she says. Meanwhile I'm laughing hysterically, the look on her face was priceless. She took the meal back and gave me a new one. Needless to say I went back for more steak dinners, but I refused to eat the salads for at least two months. LOL Now anytime I order salad? I comb through the lettuce with my fork! On that note, because I loved the restaurant, I didn't freak out. However if I would have been a new customer? I doubt if I would have ever gone back there! So yah the customer service here is awesome! I recommend you go there for dinner. Sadly it is restricted to 19 years of age because of the bar and smoking. They do have a non smoking area at the back of the restaurant. It is 70's dining room style.
RESTAURANT TIPS Depending on the type of food that you like or the kind of atmosphere that you are comfortable with, here are a few places I have visited and my stories about what happened there. BRASS TAP Nicely decorated located on College Street across from the YMCA. I had a very unpleasant experience there. I didn't find the "customer service" all that great. I complained to the manager who was the waitress that day, about getting ice in my pop after requesting not to have ice. Her comment was, "well next time order it without ice" But I did?" "She says, well pardon me, your royal highness, would you like me to get down on my hands and knees and serve you?" " I said, no, but it sure would have been nice if you had offered me an empty cup and a spoon, so I could remove the ice from my pop! Ice makes my teeth ache!" I then asked for her name so I could tell the owner how rude she was to me. She refused to give me her name, or the owner's phone number. I wanted to complain about her "attitude". I mean isn't the customer always right? As it stands, I threw down a toonie and walked out. I refused to order food there, I was so ticked off. So if you go in there and there's a short blonde haired woman, whatever you do, don't make a fuss about your pop having ice in it. Or she will call you, your "royal highness" .. on that note, heaven forbid any royalty to ever visit this restaurant. Too bad their customer service skills aren't up to par! I did tell that to her face, that she needed to learn some people skills!
