| How I got started in magic |
| Hey, this site is finally up. I' glad that you are interested in magic and I hope you like this section and find it informative and helpful. When I started magic I didn't know you could get insight, ideas, and tricks from the internet, so please take this information and use it to help you procede in your magic career or hobby. I've been interested in magic my whole life. The ability to facinate people is amazing. Half the reason I do magic is because when you do a great effect and fool someone, they think that you are god. It' a good feeling. They give you a respect you can't earn in any other way. Like I said I was always into magic, but not always seriously into it. As a kid I would by a magic kit and practice the tricks, then me and my brother would put on a magic show for my parents. They sat there and pretended it was good, and I was happy with that. Because I have always like magic and was intrested in it, I had a background in it which made it easier when I decided to tkae magic seriously. I started taking magic seriously when I was 12. I took a magic class after school. This was the first time I had ever learnt magic that actually fooled anyone. This was good magic. I took the follow up class the next semester, advanced magic. In this class I learnt better magic. Just seeing the reactions of the people I preofrmed for, mostly family and friends, I knew I would always enjoy preforming magic. For the next few years I did magic as an on and off hobby. I never took it really seriously until I had just turned 14. This is when I really started my magic career. I started buying books and learnt from them. I would practice until I had something down perfect. Then preform it for family and friends. I started getting known in school as a magician and people would ask me to do magic when they saw me. I learnt about Tannens and visited the store a few times. I went to their summer camp which was amazing. I learnt so much in so little time. I started doing childrens parties and making money. Now I am making a website and trying to meet people who are interested in magic. I am working on getting a job as a table hopper in a restuarant or a strolling magician. The words of advice I can give you are this, learn whatever you can, and most important try to interact with other magicians. Do as much advertising as possible and never do a trick if it's not perfect. You will only ruin your reputation. Books and tapes are very important and get as many as you can. Most important, have fun with the magic, it'll bring you places. |
