Brooke smiled weakly, "How was vacation?"
"Well..." she laughed, tucking a strand of highlighted hair behind her ear, "let's just say, it wasn't much fun with out having you around. And as I can tell, life kind of sucked while I was gone." Lindsi sat down in the seat next to her friend, giving her a serious look, "what happened?"
"Gil." Brooke forced a laugh, "He's been acting like super saviour since you left. More or less, he caught me and Tal getting close again, and stopped it. He thinks that keeping us from falling in love again, is some sort of, well, heroic act."
Lindsi gave a mournful look, "I'm sure he's just watching out for you. I mean, seriously. You and Tal are a deadly combination. We saw that last year."
"Just because we faught constantly doesn't mean that we weren't perfect for each other." Brooke defended, flashing Lindsi a weak smile. It seemed as if she were trying to convince Lindsi of something she wasn't sure of herself.
"Well, yeah...you guys were adoreable together. Always curling up on the couch late saturday night and watching that program on Mtv, the times you'd always play basketball and end up knocking each other to the ground in a fit of laughter, and of course, the way you acted when you were around each other. So bright, and alive," Lindsi stated, "But Brookie, things change. It isn't the same as it once was. You and Tally...pure puppy love."
Brooke looked alittle taken back by her friends last comment, "Puppy love? You know it was more than that...Linds, you know it was."
She lifted her shoulders in a slight shrug, her blue eyes darting from her friends upset face to the others in the lunch room. Everyone seemed so quite and happy, as if nothing ever went wrong...like it was a simple dream. Life that is, life was a simple dream. She turned back to Brooke, a grin lighting the corner of her lips, "Alright, then maybe you aren't as forgetful as most people in this damn school are. Maybe you and Tal aren't some high school crush, maybe it isn't this long lost memory. Just maybe you are bound to be together...and if you are, then you should figure out exactly how he feels."
"Are you kidding me?" Brooke laughed, "How do you expect me to talk to Tally, without Gil standing over us and glaring. How can I come out and ask Tal how he feels and know he's telling the truth, if he knows Gil will break his fucking nose the second I leave the room."
"Oh, come on Brooke!" She cried, "Gil isn't that horrible! He's just, alittle over protected. He always was. I mean, think, when you dated that reject Mike. Who was there to kick his ass? It sure as hell wasn't your brother, it was Gil."
"So, your trying to tell me that Gil is some sort of older brother who wants to run my life."
"Exactly. And how did you get your real brother, Luke off your back?"
Brooke gave her an akward look, "Are you suggesting I do that same thing with Gil?"
"Why not? What harm could it do? Gil will always look out for you, but if you get him distracted," Lindsi grinned, "Then he wouldn't exactly be there to run your life because he'd be way too busy managing his own."
Brooke blinked, "Well, I thought I had him distracted, but Laura wasn't such a great distraction."
"LAURA?" Lindsi laughed, "Are you kidding me? Gil be distracted by her? That's like a never. She follows him around like a lost puppy dog. You need someone with class and someone who is completely adoreable that he isn't able to take those brillant blue eyes off of."
"You mean...someone like you?"
