Context
- Students will have fun, and
interact with each other while learning about weather
- Students will be able to tell
their parents that they now understand how important it is to be prepared
for bad weather
Objectives
- Students will
be able to know the signs that bad weather is coming
- Students will
be more informed about Tornado Safety and how to be prepared
- Students
should be able to answer questions about certain types of weather when
asked without problem and be able to explain things they have learned to
adults

Students will describe various techniques for estimating geological time.
(students will be able to learn how to estimate time of tornadoes arriving
in certain areas)

Students will explain the transfer of Earth’s internal heat in the mantle
(crustal movement, hotspots, geysers)
Resources, media, and
technology
Procedures
- Day One-> Students
will watch video and do activities on BrainPOP about hurricanes,
and do quiz turning in score.
- Day Two->
Students will do the Virtual Field Trip on Tornadoes, taking notes and
doing as directed on the VFT, turning notes in at end of class
- Day Three->
Students will continue learning about Tornadoes,
going to BrainPOP to watch video and do activities finishing with quiz,
once again turning in quiz score
- Day Four->
Students have choice between Tsunami
or Volcano
on BrainPOP, doing as before when on that website, and working in groups
creating a PowerPoint showing what they have learned
- Day Five->
present PowerPoint presentations and when finished watch part of the movie
Twister.
Assessment Plan
- Students will
be graded based on participation and completion of BrainPOP activities
- Virtual Field
Trip completion and notes are collected and graded
- Students will
be able to show individually and as a group how much they have learned and
be able to show it creatively
- Students will
know how to access the VFT and other links later if needed for review
