Entry for December 22, 2008

The does are very pregnant and content, but I get more and more anxious each year as we approach thier kidding dates.  I expect mostly New Year kids this year, but I listen closely each time I approach the barn for that tell-tale scream of a new kid.  Despite my impatient vigil, the Holstein bull calf, Wren, is finally off milk, so that frees up some time.  We antcipate ordering White Rock and Barred Rock chicks in February this year.  I love the Ameracauna my friend gave me this year...thanks, Cindy!  I am glad I reread my typing as I looked back and I had types "my feind" instead of "my friend".  Big difference!

The hay supply is holding up, so that makes me thankful.  Our daughter cannot wait to pick out her 4H goat(s).  The heifer "Pickles" is finally warming up to us a bit as we bear yummy grain.

13 more days until several kids due...c'mon already!
