I sold our heifer over the phone tonight, and that was a tough task. Negotiations are not fun. I'd like to keep her, and my daughter would love to see the calf that we have been patiently waiting for over the past seven months. We need to deliver her to Lancaster this week. I hope to be able to purchase a beef heifer calf from my parents as a replacement for our dear dairy Cindy. The majority of the money will pay help to pay bills, so I am thankful for the Lord's provision for our family.
My daughter and I enjoyed a long trail ride a few nights ago with new friends close to Blain. The weather was pleasant and comfortable, and the horses were well-behaved. The only tricky part was backing the trailer...when will I learn to turn left to go right and turn right to go left?!?
The peeps are getting their wing feathers, and our neighbors popped in for a visit to see them today. Our layers recently started to regularly provide us with farm fresh eggs again. Have I mentioned how much I love chickens? Eggs, meat, comedy relief...they provide us with so much!
Our hay field looks like it is ready for 2nd cut. We are debating whether or not we can get three cuts off this year which is an indication of all the rain that has fallen here this summer. After the drought last year and the shortage of hay, it is nice to see lush fields.
