Entry for February 17, 2008

We have Spring fever already, and it is mid-Febuary!  We collected eggs to incubate from the hen house today knowing that the weather may be warming by the time they hatch in 21 days.  We will collect eggs tomorrow, too, and the following weeks will consist alot of egg-turning and incubator-gawking.  We are planning to offically enter the realm of pastured poultry this year.  We often let our three hens out to roam and enjoy fresh greens and insects, but this is an experiment to raise hens by the dozens at the farm.

My sister in Christ, Cindy, picked up Curly and Bo yesterday, a doe and her buck kid.  Are you out there Cindy?   We know Curly and Bo have a wonderful new home!  I forgot to latch the fence that separates the horses and goats after my friends left, and I pulled up today to see Domingo, a gelding, nipping at a goat kid!  Note to self...always keep the goat area horse-proof!  The kid is fine and the horse just wanted some peace, so all is settled at the farm now.
