....still anxiously awaiting the arrival of our goat kids.  Cindy, our Jersy/Holstein cross was bred to my father-in-law's Angus bull on January 1st.  If money and space were not factors, I would love to scoop up the calves at that farm as they have new, beautiful beef calves with lots of color and thickness.  Some show Herefore coloration while other calves look charlois.  I want to claim all the heifers, but my husband thankully is the voice of wisdom by asking "Where would we keep them?" and "What would we feed them?"

We added a new herd sire to the pasture yesterday.  Our children named him "Fruity Pebbles", and I am activley trying to convice them to use the nickname "Pebbles".  So much for a maucho buck name.  We purchased him from Losch's Riverview Farm in Juniata County, and the children were thrilled to witness a kidding while visiting the Losch's lovely farm along the river.

Chip, our previous sire, moved on to greener pastures with 70 does in Cumberland County. The farmer's neighbor asked what treats Chip enjoys, so I hinted that Chip would love to nibble on tangerines.  Not many tangerines fall from trees in PA though, so he may have to settle for apples and carrots.
