The kidding season began on a sad note as Curly miscarried twins on Tuesday. She is doing fine, and I am ensuring her nutrient requirements are being met. We have never lost a kid before, so it was a suprise and a big disappointment when we found Curly in labor early. Our herd sire, Brian, still stinks and loves the ladies, so it will not be difficult to rebreed Curly later this winter if that is what we decide to do.
Our summer beef calves, Shirley and Annabelle, are growing quickly and the only sturggle they have is meddling goats at feed time.
We are anxiously awaiting Lizzie and Holly to kid in the next two weeks. What a Christmas gift to our family!
