Sakura is an ordinary elementary school student, but theres more to her then what meets the eye. One day Sakura comes home from a long day at her school and hears this strange snoring sound coming from her fathers library. Sakura quickly finds out shes alone in the house and with much hesitation she decideds to go down to see what it is. She inspects the ille's and discovers nothing until she comes to the last row. A strange glow comes from the book shelf and Sakura goes in for a closer look. A book! Sakura plucks the book from the shelf and looks at it..."The Clow..." She runs her fingers along the edges of the book, and the lock binding the book suddenly pops open. Pulling back the cover she finds some cards. Lifting the first one up she examins it. "Win...win..windy" Suddenly a gust of wind picks up and the cards fly out of the book and get scattered around town. A little shocked Sakura falls to the floor dropping the book.

At this moment the book glows a golden color and a little "plush like toy" comes out of the book. Looking around Kerboros sees Sakura and finds out that all the cards are gone except for "The Windy". At this point Kerboros apoints Sakura as a Card Captor and tells her its her duty to collect the cards, because she was the one that released them. Sakura claims it was his fault for falling asleep on duty for 30 years. They both seem to be at a stand still. Kero-chan tells Sakura if the cards aren`t recaptured a great catastrope will befall our world. And that Sakura will be able to do it. For she was able to open the book and this ment that she had some magical abilities.

That very night the wind blew with tremendous force and Kero and Sakura discover a giant bird in the sky. "A CLOW CARD!!!" Kero exlaimed and had Sakura go after it. Sakura manages to catch up with the card and get on its back. Using the windy card Sakura create a binding chain to hold the great bird. Using her wand Sakura captures it and obtains "The Fly" card. Kero tells her to try it out, so she does. Her wand grows wings and she hops on and goes for a midnight ride across the moon. To her surprise her best friend Tomoyo confronts her and shows her a video of the moon she took the night before. Sakura gasps as she sees herself flying past the moon. Later Sakura explains what has happened and Tomoyo finds this very exciting and declares she will video tape and create Sakuras costumes for battles. While Sakura is a little less enthusiastic about it.

After a while a new transfer student from Hong Kong is put into Sakura's class, Shaolin Li. At first glance Shaolin glares at Sakura. Sakura being the good natured girl she is, is very confused and nervous as he is seated behind her. On Sakura's next hunt for a card Shaolin shows up and preaches to her how she isn`t right for the job. But in the end Sakura manages to capture the "Thunder" card. From this day on they are rivals.

And yet after another while of compeating with Shaolin Meiling Li shows up, Shaolin's cousin/financee. Meiling and Shaolin both are descendents of Clow Reed the creator of the Book of Clow. Shaolin posses magic but to my surprise Meiling does not. She is some what of a rarity in her family for not possesing magical powers. When Meiling shows up for the first time at Shaolin's house she discovers Sakura wearing a shirt she had given him and storms off being very upset. Sakura was wearing the shirt because she had gotten wet and Shaolin offered her some help. Now Meiling is EXTREAMLY jealous of Sakura and thinks she is compitition for Shaolin's love.

Sakura mangages to capture most of the cards and is on her way to finishing up her job as Cardcaptor. At this time Meiling is heading back to Hong Kong beliveing that she is not needed. As well of beliving not being needed for captureing cards, she also doesn`t think Shaolin needs her either. But no fear! The Twin Card is here! Each twin is a half of the card and they have to be captured together! (twin card is a set of 2 spirits) In the end, Sakura and Shaolin can't beat the card, because they hint at what their attack is going to be. So in comes Meiling, Meiling and Shaolin trained for many years together in the martial arts and can sense each others movements. And together they beat the twin card and Sakura captures it! Then Meiling is sent back to Hong Kong knowing that she is needed!

Okay now to a very important part of the first season The Judgement. One of the keepers of the clow, Yue, must test Sakura to see if she is worthy of being the master of the Cards. Sakura mangages to defeat Yue with a little help and the cards finally and truely become hers. They transform into a light shade of pink and from now on are called the Sakura Cards.
