Otherwise known as Nlaka'pamux (*Lakap* "means
- reach the bottom or base" as in canyon and
*
Emux* "means-people) have inhabited the interior
of British Columbia  for at least 9,000 years.
Archaeological evidence was found just north of
Hope in the Fraser Canyon. We have along with the Mt. Currie and Lilloet Band formed the Stein Voices which it's first priority is to protect the Stein Valley from being logged, mined and being encroached apon by the new
millenia.

Where the Fraser and Thompson River meet
The Stein Vally is also home to the Mule deer, Mountain goats, marmot, Black and Grizzly bear, beaver, porcupine, rabbit, squirrel, grouse, duck, goose and occasionaly lynx and coyote.
Lytton is where the Fraser and Thompson River meet.  Steelhead, salmon and sturgeon are found locally.
