I stand before it, bursting with hunger, ready to open it and eat anything in site. My hand moves, as if in slow motion, toward the long slender handle and opens the contraption. A burst of light gleams through the cracks, illuminating my face with its soft, yellow glow. As it opens, my eyes fall upon the treasure that lies within it, strewn about to fit just right. Shelve upon shelve of food of every kind- milk, juice, apples, broccoli, ham, ketchup-is just waiting for me to grab and devour it. I take hold of the possessions I need and long for and close the chest with a satisfying bang. My friend, the refrigerator, has saved me once more.
My refrigerator holds many things
For eating, drinking and indulging
Fruits and chocolate milk and cheese
It keeps them fresh from mold and fleas
The groan of the icemaker makes me scold
But the ice keeps my beverage so cold
Refrigerators are the very best
They are better than all the rest!
