I Don't really know much about Misty's family, except that her sisters are 'The Sensational Sisters' (along with Misty). To my knowledge there was no mention in the show about their parents/guardians (I've never read the manga, so I'm not sure about the manga). I suspect that the sisters either didn't have any parents, were adopted or their parents died. The Sensational Sisters (left to right: Lily/Botan, Violet/Ayame and Daisy/Sakura) along with Misty are the gym leaders of Cerulean City. They don't reat Misty very kindly, whenever they got new stuff they gave Misty their hand-me-downs. After Misty has met up with Ash (the whole stealing her bike story) she came along him on his quest to become a Pokemon master, and to get all of the gym badges. When they come up to Cerulean City, Misty was reluctant to go because she didn't want to meet up with her sisters again. The episodes they appear in (that I know of) are 'The Waterflowers of Cerulean City' and 'The Misty Mermaid.'
