In The Company Of Dragon Slayers



You hear them coming a long way off
Their sirens wail, their lights so bright
Is this a false alarm or the real deal
Has the dragon awoken for it's next meal


The call comes in
It's two a.m
They all are ready
It is a four alarm blaze
People are trapped they are told
The structure an inferno and very old


One by one the engines and aerials arrive
Only to find flames billowing
From the windows above
The could only pray the victims were still alive


The dragon raised it's Hellish head
And flames burst forth with a vengence
The shouts and cries could barely be heard
The smoke so thick and black filling the air


Was it too late
Would the dragon win
Would these brave firefighters
Be left to pick up the pieces
To carry more scars of souls lost
To the dragon's deadly flames


Like Knights in shinning armor
They entered that building
Though the armor they wore was charred
Sooty and well worn
To the people they were saving
They resembled more of angels sent from Heaven
Than mere mortal men fighting a raging fire


A family was saved that night
Taken from the jaws of the
dragon's deadly grip
Given back their future
The life they held dear
They were in the company of Dragon Slayers
the Dragon Slayer's Legend
Is something to revere!
