| Does Amber's Aviary ship birds? - No I do not ship my birds. It's for their own safety. Am I guaranteed a hand-fed Lovebird? - Yes, I hand-feed all of my baby birds, and they are well socialized. What mutations does Amber's Aviary raise? - I raise Lutinos, Cobalts, Normals, Dutch Blues, and Slate Lovebirds. Would I be able to put a deposit down on a baby Lovebird? - Yes, customers are welcome to put a $25 deposit on a baby Lovebird, if they wish for me to hold the bird for them until weaning. Is the deposit refundable? - No, the deposit is not refundable. What are the prices on each mutation? - Prices vary. Please see my pricing page for prices on each mutation. Are all baby birds close banded? - Yes, all of my baby Lovebirds are close banded. What formula does you use to feed the baby Lovebirds? - I use Kaytee Formula for all birds. What are the breeders fed? - My birds are fed a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, crazy corn mixes, Roudybush pellets, Hartz and Kaytee seeds along with commercial treats. What are the baby birds weaned on to? - My baby Lovebirds are weaned on to the diet above. What cage size do you recommend? - I recommend a minimum cage size of 18"x18"x18" with a maximum bar spacing of 5/8". After I purchase a cage, what should I put in it? - I recommend a minimum of 4 toys. Cement, cotton rope, wooden dowels, and manzanita are recommendations of perches which can be used. ( do not use sand paper perches ) You should have a water bottle or water dish, and at least two food bowls. What should I line the cage tray with? - Newspaper or any kind of paper is OK for cage trays. Do not use any type of bedding. How often should I clean the cage and change the tray paper? - Disenfect cage and toys every 3-4 weeks, and change the cage tray paper once a week. How often should I replace food and water? - Water should be replaced daily. Pellets can remain in the cage for 2-3 days, if not soiled or wet. Fruits and vegetables should be changed every 6-8 hours. Seeds should only be changed if they are hulled. What things shouldn't I use around my bird? - Do not use/feed sprays, shampoos, soaps, fragrances, bedding, sand paper perches, mite or lice protectors, grit, gravel, avocados, alcohol, caffeine, or choclate. How much out of cage time should I allow for my bird? - Birds need to be out of their cage a minimum of 2- 3 hours a day. They enjoy human contact and are very playful. They need socialization to remain tame. |
