"Don't move, asshole," she hissed.  She made to pull the trigger, but she stopped.  Instead she swung it around and smashed the barrel into his temple.  He crumbled to the ground like one of Rosaline's rag dolls.
Foot steps sounded on the walkway, and she panicked.  She pushed to gun into the waistband of her jeans and took off for the back door.  She didn't know where she would go, but she knew that she had to leave.

Sera woke with a start as a hand touched her shoulder.
A brunette smiled down at her.  "We're finished here," she said.  "We're gathering now at the opening for a meeting."
Sera nodded and sat up quickly.  A throbbing pain exploded in her head, but she ignored it and stood.  She had to get back Rosaline and Emilia.  If they were still alive.
She followed the brunette to the front of the warehouse.  A small congregation of people stood there.  Carlos stood near the head, with his arms folded across his chest.  She walked over and stood next to him.  When he looked down at her, she smiled a little and then looked back towards the man with spiky brown hair standing at the head of the group.
"Feeling better?" he whispered.
Sera nodded.  "Somewhat."
The man at the head started to speak then, so the conversation did not go any further.
"The new shelter is coming along well," the man started.  "This is the last of supplies we have to bring in.  Now I want you all to return to your lives as best you can.  No words are to be spoken of this to anyone, friend or family.  Not yet, at least.  Wait until I give the order, then you can start bringing in your families.  For now, go back to town, go back to work.  I'll get word to each of you when we need to come back.  Until then, I'll be continuing work on the shelter.  That is all."
There was a general murmuring throughout the group, and people started walking out to the vans.
Fear gripped Sera, and she in turn grabbed Carlos' arm.
"I can't go back out there!" she said, her eyes wide.  "They know me!  They tried to kill me!"
Carlos hushed her quickly.  "I know," he replied.  "And so does Liam.  You and I are staying here tonight."
Sera closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.  "Thank you," she whispered.
