She awoke to find herself
Alone and in pain
On the floor of a forest
with only trees around
Taken by her darkest fear
From the blackest nightmare
Solitude...With out another soul
To save her
She cried aloud
And hoped someone would hear
Her fate had left her alone
And broken by despair
She had hoped someone
would save her from where she was
Never hoping to save herself
she had no faith in herself
With a scream to the moon
That cursed the gods
That left her here
Bent and dying alone
She sobbed and sobbed
And hoped someone would lift her
And bring her out of the self-pity
That would destroy her given the time
Finally she could no longer
Manage to scream
she had no voice left
No energy left
She lay silently on the ground
Too tired to dream of someone saving her
She had given up
She didn't care
And then she realized
As she fell deeper into the black
She could save herself
If she allowed it to happen
She inhaled slowly
Amazed that she still could
And then she opened her eyes
The world was still there
The moon that she had shunned
Was still shining
And instead of mocking her
Was encouraging her
And she stood
Shaking and quivering
But she did not stop
And she was still alive
And she walked
With one foot in front of the other
And the trees around her
To steady her
Panting, sweating, and shaking
She walked away from the place
She had been positive
Would be her death bed had no help come
But help had come
In the form of the moon
With energy and a whisper
To make her understand
You can't count on someone
To always be there
Don't give up
Believe that you can take care of yourself
Be strong....Be strong and hold on
Hold on to faith
And believe in your being
Without believing, there is no living
