The End of an Age of Power- A Lament For the Elves

So for awhile
It was the same
Not a word was spoken
Of the danger that was to come
Or of the heartbreak
And loss that would occur

So silent and sweet
Soft and serene
But only the calm
Before the storm
Just the silence
Before the crashing
Of the wave

Before we knew it
The tide had turned
We were swept away
In the moment
And the end came
So quickly
That we hit hard

Did we know
What was to become
Of us now?
Did we know
Our fate?
Yes....
But we carried on
Like tomorrow would come

This was done
By our own hands
By our valour
We were our own undoings
We turned the wheels of fate
Against ourselves
Only to save the others
We gave up our time
Willingly
And sadly
We passed out of existence
