The Reverie
From the Chronicles of Myra Sunveil
Myra fell into one of the deepest reveries she could remember. She never even felt Glor carry her upstairs. Her sleep was so deep she didn't even toss or turn as the strange images filled her reverie.
...She looked around the large building, her eyes slowly adjusting to the deep darkness. A woman in a robe quite unlike any she had seen before stood over her, speaking to her. Myra couldn't understand anything the woman was saying. But that wasn't the only thing that was out of the ordinary. The woman's skin was like ebony and her hair looked like spun silver...
Myra frowned deeply in her sleep, but found herself unable to wake.
...She was walking down a... tunnel? Yes, a cave like tunnel. The woman was with her again, still speaking, more quietly this time, and in that strange language. There was a small crossbow in Myra's hand and she was apparently doing as she was told. The woman said something and Myra loaded the small crossbow, and received a slight nod of approval from the woman...
Myra tried to wake again, unsucessfully.
...suddenly there was a flash of bright light in the tunnel in front of them. Another figure jumped out and blocked their way. Myra couldn't see. The light had blinded her. She heard a male voice, familiar to her now, but not then. The woman and man yelled back and forth at one another in two different tongues. She heard the arcane words from the man and heard a thud near her as one of them fell. There were hands on her. She kicked and screamed...
And fell out of the bed onto the floor. Myra bolted upright, looking around the room, her eyes wide. She was upstairs in Glor's bedroom, light from the sunrise peeking in through the windows. She blinked her eyes a few times and wiped a little sweat from her forhead, catching her breath.
Shaking her head, she picked up her bow and hurried down the stairs, out the door and ran off into the woods.
