Ø Lucifer and the Demonology
In
demonology Lucifer can be found occupying several positions, which differs from
author to author. Some associate him with Satan, however there is generally a
distinction between both, each one with its own position in the infernal
hierarchy. Looking this way, Lucifer is generally positioned above Satan.
According
to Collin De Plancy’s Dictionaire Infernale, written in 1863,
Lucifer have the title of Hell’s King, responsible to assure justice, but
Satan does not figures in the sixty four demons presented in the piece. He rules
the east and Europe and Asia. His description is of a beautiful child that
suddenly transforms drastically his physiognomy into a monster when he was
angry.
Lucifer - Dictionaire Infernale.>
In
the Grimorium Verum (the most ancient version of it, dated from 1517), we
find Lucifer, Belzebuth and Astaroth as being the three powers. Lucifer has the
appearance of a beautiful boy. However, when he is angry, he turns into red. As
it is in the Dictionaire Infernale, Lucifer rules Europe and Asia through
his inferiors: Satanackia and Agalierap. The conjuration should happen too in a
specific circle, having the three signs of Lucifer draw around it. As a
curiosity, I will cite the conjuration found in this grimore: "Lucifer,
Ouyar, Chameron, Aliseon, Mandousin, Premy, Oriet, Nayadrus, Esmony,
Eparinesont, Estiot, Dumosson, Danochar, Casmiel, Hayras, Fabelleronthou,
Sodirno, Peatham, Venite, Lucifer. Amém.".
The circle - Grimorium Verum.
The
Grimore of Pope Honorus, the Great, was written in the XVI century, however
many consider this datum as a fraud, owed to the fact that its first printed
version was dated of the XVII century. In this Grimore, Lucifer is presented as
one of the main infernal spirits; being considered the Infernal Emperor. Again
in this piece Satan is mentioned. Here again Lucifer should the conjured on
Mondays, between the third and forth hour, or between the eleven and twelve
hour. The sacrifice of a mouse is necessary, according this Grimore, so as the
conjuration reaches its success.
In
the Sacred Magic of Abramelin, he is one of the Chefs Spirits together with
Leviathan, Satan e Belial. Even though the term Lucifuge is sometimes used to
design Lucifer, this should be avoided, because in other hierarchies, as for
example, the Grimore of Pope Honorus (already mentioned before), Lucifuge
Rofocale is the name attributed to the Hell’s Prime Minister.
Many
other books could be here, but I believe I have mentioned the most significant
ones. The descriptions were made briefly; therefore it is advisable to the
interested reader to consult directly the respective books to gain more
information. I did not add them here because it would be very long and I would
miss my initial purpose.
It
is important to know these information because we are able to discover the
origim of many associations make by us recently. One example is the association
of Lucifer with the
East, what we could see above, and that is present too in the conception of
Faust’s Reign Hierarchy. One more detailed analyze of these writings and
symbology used in Satanism will be of great valor to the study of occultism, and
it is because of it much recommended.
