The Nosferatu:
They have been widely known through
history, and have been the subject of mythology and rumours. They are the
undead
representives of the vampiric, as well as often
considering themselves to be the TRUE nosferatu, the only real vampires.
This often causes them to clash
with the Living vampires and sometims, each other.
Their society is mostly clan based,
where the strongest in mind and body is often the presented leader. These clans
often fight amongst each other, and even if they are of the same “species” they
often consider themselves to be very different from the other clans.
These vampires often have almost an
unnatural charisma wrapped around them, but it is a charm that slips away when
they do not feed. A vampire that does not feed decays in appearance and take on
the looks of a rotting corpse. In order to survive they need to feed of a
living person at least every second day, and even then it would barely be
surviving. A vampire of that sort cannot live off cold blood or the blood of
animals.
General Strenghts:
Due to being undead, they are
immune to sunlight and a good night’s sleep can regenerate even amputated
limbs. They have immortality at their footsteps and old vampires most certainly
enjoy the benefit of experience.
They have lightning fast speed,
incredible strength and enhanced senses as well as perfect vision in the dark.
Since they are technically dead they are also completely immune to diseases and
have no need for food or water. Note that garlic and holy water does not have
any effect upon vampires.
General Weaknesses:
Sunlight is lethal to them, and at
best a small gleam of sunlight would cause burns that might take days to heal.
Silver does cause serious damage to them and a full loss of blood does kill
them –such as it would kill anyone. Vampires catch on fire rather easily, and
thus it could almost be called a natural enemy to them. The Nosferatu can only
rest and regenerate while sleeping in a coffin. While a stake in the heart does
not kill them outright, it does put them in a comatose state until the stake is
removed and a fresh supply of blood is in the close surroundings.
Understandably their sight is near blindness in sunlight, although it is
perfectly fine in artificial light.
Creation:
Such a mythological vampire is
created through the means of biting and the forcing of will. For a Nosferatu to
create a fledgling, the vampire must feed of its victim until it is almost dead
–with the intention of turning them into vampires. As if that were not enough
it does also follow suit that the vampire’s will most dominate that of the
victim. Thus a person with incredible will power just might evade their fate of
being turned, while the normal individual would be turned almost immediately.
After being bitter the fledgling
usually takes on a frenzy of sort, hungering for blood. This frenzy is known
for lasting up to three days since turning, but if the vampire fledgling does
not feed within that time, at sunrise, he or she returns to their human state,
albeit severely injured, lacking blood and most often they die within two
hours.
Many clans do not permitt the
creation of a Fledgling vampire unless with the permission of the Clan elders,
the punishment varies from clan to clan, all up to death. To run away from a
newly created Fledgling is even a worse crime and in most cases earns the
criminal a slow death out in the sunlight.
Note that only humans can be
turned.
The Psychic Vampires – Soul
vampires.
In basics they are mortal. They are
born to normal parents, have normal jobs, can lie in the sun without a problem
–although they are often prone to sunburns and have eyes sensitive to light.
So what is just so vampiric about
them?
Each individual has energy –life
energy of sorts. Whether it is will, soul, mana /spirit it is not known, but it
is a fact to those vampires that they cannot produce it themselves, and thus
they need to “steal” it from other people, normal people that rarely even
suspect that they are being drained.
For example –a psychic vampire is
drawn to crowded places, and automatically feed of the present energy. If they
do not feed they waist away and die slowly.
These vampires can range from being
strong to weak, most of the weak ones are rarely aware of what they are and can
sometimes cause incredible damage to others without meaning to or knowing that
it was their fault.
These vampires are not exactly
loners, being very social individuals and they recognize one another just as
they recognize other human beings. They do however; prefer to stay around their
humans since by part they do still consider themselves to be human. Thus there
is no clan like society structure or a defined lone wolf lifestyle.
A Psi vampire can feed off a victim
until the victim becomes a permanent Vegetable, this however, amounts to PC
killing and must be treated as such.
General strenghts:
All psychic vampires have one or
more psychic abilities, the stronger the ability, the more mana/spirit they
must consume. One gift that comes without hesitation or cost is the ability of
aura reading; it is limited to seeing to what race the person belongs.
General weaknessess:
They tend to be physically weak and
frail, and f.x if a psi vampire has only one gift it might be a strong one, if
it were to possess say –three gifts, those gifts –combined- might amount to the
power of a vampire that would only have one. Thus variety in psi gifts reduces
the strength of them.
Creation-Awakening.
In order to blossom to their full
power and awaken their psychic abilities they need to be awakened by another
psi vampire. It might be as simple as a psi vampire accidentally feeding off them,
leaving them so severely out of energy that their survival instinct kicked in
and woke their true nature up. It could also be that another, strong psi
vampire simply approaching the person in subject and tell them –convince them
and at times –teach them. A Psi vampire can be awakened at any point in his or
her life, although it becomes increasingly difficult as they become older. A
Psi Vampire can be awoken very late in their life, and there would be some rare
happenings where a Psi Vampire child would be born to a Psi vampire Parent, and
thus the child would have been awake through their entire life.
Note that these beings are born as
such and none can be turned to become one, nor can these vampires be turned
into were beasts, Nosferatu or Living vampires.
Alive? Would that not be a
contradiction?
Either way it goes, these vampires
roam around freely, they eat, they sleep (during the day), they breed, they
breathe –although they can hold their breath for up to a half an hour at most.
Nobody truly knows from where they came, some think that they are an evolution
of the undead, or perhaps a cross breed of humans and the undead.
Others say that they are the
descendants of Lilith herself, or the damnation at the hands of one god or another.
All those speculations or more, they do not change that they are there and
quite so much; alive.
They grudgingly acknowledge the
existence of one another, each and every Living vampire being an individual of
their own; this often pushes them to a lone wolf lifestyle, holding only a few
necessary individuals close. They can live off the blood of animals, although
it is no where as refreshing as that of fresh human blood, they also need
considerably less blood than the undead Nosferatu, the meagre amount of a litre
per day is more than enough.
It has been known on occasions for
these vampires to form alliances of sorts, albeit not to friendly ones, for
protection. The Nosferatu and these Living breed of vampires constantly clash
and while the Nosferatu have their clans, the Living at times reply to that by
founding their own circle of protection.
These “circles” or “gangs” are
rarely long lived, if ever, since once the thread is over they tend to go their
separate ways.
One can surely say that the few
strong bonds between these kinds of vampires are either between
fledgling/childe or mentor/creator and the bonds of family (parents, lovers,
children, siblings).
General Strenghts:
Enhanced senses, stronger and
quicker than humans, while not as strong/quick as the undead Nosferatu their
senses match them perfectly. Allergic to sunlight to a significant degree. Only
need one litre of blood per night and their life span is about 20x longer than
that of a human. Their immunity system is literally invincible, rendering them
immune to diseases. Perfect vision in the dark.
General Weaknessess.
Their wounds heal like a human’s,
anything with a very strong scent is highly bothersome to them, to the point of
making them sick (such as garlic). They are allergic to silver, but not
lethally so. A stake in the heart would surely kill them –such as it does to
any other mortal. Bright light, artificial or sunlight is highly irritating on
their eyes. A strongly lit room could do just as much damage to their light sensitive
eyes as direct sunlight
Creation: Rebirth.
There are two possible for a living
vampire to come into the world, the obvious one is to be born of two vampiric
parents (if one parent is human the child is a dampir-a half breed). This
living sort of vampirism is somewhat of a virus, thus if a living vampire
drains someone nearly to death, and then shares a large amount of blood with
the victim, the victim will become a vampire. Note that only humans can be
turned.
The vampire then usually takes
his/her responsibility for the fledgling/childe and teaches them of the things
he or she needs to know in order to survive. The bond between a Mentor/childe
is most often an ever-lasting one.
Such as it is in the Nosferatu
society, it is a crime to abandon a Childe, but unlike with the NOsferatu they
do not have such a systematic way of eliminating the criminals.
The law breaking vampire often
faces death.
Were beasts:
They are basically mortals who have
been (un) fortunate enough to have the gift/curse to change into horrible
beasts when they experience strong emotions.
That’s right, they do not change on
full moon –although that period of time often induces strong feelings within
the were beast. They cannot change on whim, and when they change the human
drive in them often takes a backseat. With training and experience the were
beast can learn how to control themselves while in their bestial form, but most
of the time they tend to surrender to the malicious tendencies of their inner
beastie. The beast they become is often dependant on their ruling personality
traits when they are bitten/born rather than upon the nature of their creator
or parent, although it is quite common that parents and children carry similar
personality traits.
Undead vampires and were beasts
often have it “in” for each other, while psi vampires or living vampires
usually are neutral. Humans tend to be scared of them and fae often just think
they are odd humans.
Were beasts are limited to:
Large warm-blooded Land Creatures. Such as
Wolfs, Tigers, Bears, Gorillas, and such. There Weres of insects, birds,
Lizards, fishes, whales, Sharks, Dolphins and such will NOT be accepted.
If you are in doubt contact the Admin.
General strenghts:
When in their bestial form they
tend to be much stronger than the average human, quicker, more agile and with
the appropriate senses for their inner beast.
General weaknessess:
Prone to loose control when in were
beast form, cannot change on will and it is only when they manage to calm down
that they change back to their human form.
Creation: if one parent is a were beast, it is 50/50 that the child
will become one, and if one is bitten by a were beast when in were beast form
there is also a 50/50 chance of becoming a were beast themselves.
Despite the prefix of “dark “ they
are not necciarily just that, they can be of any colour, just about any height,
some have filmy wings, others don’t, some have tails, others don’t –but all can
look like humans. They have been cast out of the fae society, either by choice
or not, and are just as varied as any other race in their disposition of evil
and good. Like so many, they lean towards the middle.
They are immortal beings, often
incredibly beautiful and enchanting, creative and filled with vibrant innocence
–although there are most certainly grouchy, depressed, snappy fae amongst them.
Their fae abilities have been
mostly removed; save for the shape shifting ability from human to fae, since to
possess those abilities outside of the fae community is rather dangerous
towards the residing mortals.
general strenghts
Often have natural affinity for
empathy, telepathy and post/pre cognition, more agile than a human, extremely charming/beautiful
and immortal. They can shape shift into humans –although not into the guise of
humans, merely into their alter ego as a “closet fae”. Cannot be turned into
vampires/were beasts.
Generally physically frail, and it
is quite taxing on them to keep their human apperance and an extended period of
time (say 24 hours straight) will make them sick from exhaustion aftwerwards.
The Fae are also prone to go insane if they try to hold their human apperance
up for too long (three days).
Creation: awww...c’mon, they’re
basically normal fae –look much like humans, just perhaps with orange skin,
purple hair and glowing eyes and maybe pointy ears. The flora of fae is
immerse. They can take on the appearance of humans, some are restricted to that
form. But they are in basics fae that have either chosen to live amongst
humans, or have been outcast from the fae society for one reason or another.
That is why they are called Dark fae –for living amongst the humans.
Half-breeds –damphir.
The ONLY half-breeds in the world,
a dark fae having a baby with a human, and the child will either be a human or
a fae. A psi vampire is born – an undead vampire can’t have offsprings, were
beasts either get were beast babies or human babies. Thus, the offspring of a
living vampire and a human is the only offspring available.
They come from varied homes,
sometimes the product of horrible circumstances, sometimes they come from
single parents, just as often they come from the loving homes of two parents of
separate species.
They are often frowned upon by just
about anyone in the vampire society, often complete outcasts from their own
design –not knowing if they are truly human or truly vampires.
It is ten times harder to conceive
an offspring between a human/vampire than human/human or vampire/vampire, thus
making it most of the time –NOT an accidental birth.
General strenght:
They can possess only ONE enhanced
sense of the parent, and are only slightly stronger than the human and slightly
quicker –not as strong or quick as the living vampire parent. They are immune
to the effects of silver, sunlight and things that smell very strong (unless
their have the sense of smell from their vampiric parent).
Their lifespan can be just as long
as that of the vampire parent, or just as short as that of the human, most of
the time their lifespan is unpredictable. They inherit the invincible immunity
system of their parents.
They need blood, without an
exception. They can only have either day or Night vision, most definalty NOT
both. They are prone to meeting prejudice from the outside world.
Creation:
To put it simply –one parent was a vampire, the other a human, out
came a half-breed.
Humans...they are as they appear to us in real life, they have no specific strenghts nor weaknessess, a very well round race.
They can become Espers, some by
becomming devoted to the cause and training the ability up, or others who are
naturally born with it.
