Daugherty Laycock Daugherty as he was called by his parents grew up living in the same apartment building as Neil Orrin and went to school with him. They grew to be close friends as they were growing up and it was this close bond that made their friendship. both being of the Irish decent helped in this manner as the Orrin family started to look out for the Laycocks and so the Laycocks fell in line and started working for the Orrins. a short time after that James was coming home from a late day at school, after having been almost suspended. he was walking through the park when he saw he buddy Neil being beaten up by two older boys and he ran to his aid. Jumping upon the pile he broke the first boys neck that he careened into sending him into the next boy and knocking him to the ground. they then were all able to somewhat compose themselves and all three stood and glared at each other with Neil not looking so good at the moment. then it happened in a flourish... Daugherty launching himself at the older stronger boy with the same hatred that had filled him with rage before but this time it was a little bit more controlled as Neil was safely behind him. He immediately punched the boy in the throat and sent him down, picking the trash up by his collar and dragging the bastard over to Neil. he stood there with the last of the opposition in hand, in the deserted park and looked to Neil for some input and he gave it to him... Putting his hand to his throat and making a slicing gesture with his hand Daugherty nodded and broke the neck of this one as well. they then made their way home and never looked back the cops figuring it was some gang related killings and never linking it to the two. they had escaped the law once again and so his life of crime began as the muscle for Neil and it would not be until much later that he would find out that Neil was to be the new ruler. this was an unexpected event as his father was a strong willed man and of good stock. He was expected to live for awhile but all things must come to pass and so his new career would begin. Back
