Just the Same

From trembling fingers fell the solitary bloom.
It settled soundlessly.
Unnoticed by you.
Of no consequence to you.
I left it, just the same.
Perhaps one day, you will find the courage
to pick it up from the barren earth.
Admire its fragile beauty and grace.
Drink in its sweet aroma.
Perhaps one day, you will allow it to remind you
Of the beauty that once lived within your own soul.
Before you welcomed the darkness.
Allowed it to consume you.
Or perhaps without a second thought,
you will grind it into the earth.
Cursing its delicate beauty.
Resenting its significance.

But I left it for youjust the same.
