Aerodrome: (RAF) An airfield or airbase, includes airfield & related facilities. From the French, but adopted into English and sometimes (later) called an "airdrome." Bounce: to attack a unsuspecting enemy aircraft, usually from above and behind or out of the sun. Break: A warning to friendly fighter aircraft that they are under attack and must break formation to take immediate evasive action for their survival. Close escort: a escort of bombers or transports where the fighters stay close to have a better chance of defending the bombers from destruction. Deflection: the angle of a target aircraft relative to the aircraft shooting at it, you must shoot in front of the aircraft to lead the fire into it. Dicke Autos: Luftwaffe code word for Allied heavy bombers; literally,"fat cars". The Germans also feared the many guns on they Allied heavy bombers because they could ripe right throught there planes. R.A.F: Royal Air Force FLAK: Anti-Aircraft fire; acronym from the German word FlugAbwehrKanonen Fighter Sweep: a offensive fighter sortie with-out any escort responsibilities where a large number of fighters are sent up to temp enemy aircraft into the sky to be destroyed before the bombers are sent in.
