USAAF AND NAVY PACFIC THEATRE AIRCRAFT

F4F WILDCAT: The wildcat was one of the first carrier based fighters of the Pacific. To bad it hardly worked and 30% of pilots had to abort before the fight.  But it could take alot of punishment in air from the marauding Zero's.

F4U CORSAIR: know by the Japanese as Whistling death.  It was faster and more manovarble and had 6 .50cal guns to destroy Jap planes. First U.S. figher to get past 400 mph. It was one of the greatest fighters of WWII and the best carrier based fighters.  It was also looked like a segul because of its wings dipping shape.  The British also used the Corsair.

F6F HELLCAT: Another great WWII fighter used by the NAVY in the Pacific.  It was a friend of the Wildcat but more manervarable and more reliable fighter.  Could be armed with rockets, cannons, or machine guns.

LOCKHEED P-38 LIGHTNING: twin engine fighter-bomber with a heavy nose armament.  With droptanks it could have a pretty good range and was used for attacks on Japanese airfields.  It was a land-based fighter and could be used with two 500lbs bombs or 10 rockets to beat the hell out of Imperial Japanese naval fleets or airfields.

P-47 Thunderbolt: A flight of 5 navy P-47s probaly comming from a attack on a Japanese airfield or naval targets.  It was again a land based fighter and could only outrun a Japanese fighter when it dived away. But it could not dogfighter a Zero 1 on 1 it just couldn't move fast enough.  Could hold one 500lbs bomb or rockets and 3000 machine gun rounds.
