Frequently Asked Questions...
I get quite a bit of questions by email about the site, or pertaining to items on it, so I thought I should add a frequently asked questions section so you wouldn't have to wait for answers. Hope this helps.
Question: Why do you only accept money orders as payment? Answer: I accept cash, US domestic money orders, and personal checks. also accept paypal--no credit/debit cards. However, I charge an additional $1.50 fee to the final price of the item to cover the fees. Your paypal payment must clear before I send anything. (Usually 3 days). If you send a personal check, I will hold it for 14 days before sending your item, to make sure it clears. No exceptions.
Question: Where do you find the toys you put on the site? Answer: Most of them are personal toys I've had a long time. Others come from flea markets, antique stores, charity stores, rummage sales, and swap meets. Please note: I do NOT buy from other online toy sites in order to resell the item at a higher cost. Please DO NOT contact me asking me to buy your item, saying that it would be **profitable to me on the resell.** All such emails will be blocked and deleted.
Question: I have a Cabbage Patch Kid/Barbie/etc. and I am wondering if you can give me an idea of what it's worth? Answer: I cannot give you a valuation on your item. The best bet is to go to ebay.com and look at similar items. Also, you may want to check online groups, or check out books on collecting and/or price guides geared toward your item at your local library.
Question: Will you please sell me an item you have listed as part of your collection? Answer: Sorry, the items I have listed as my collection are just for looks. Although at times a few of my collection kids make it over to the adoption rooms. Keep checking back!
Question: Can you tell me where to find a specific item/ toy? Answer: Most 80s toys are no longer manufactured, and must be bought from individuals. Usually these individuals will only have one of an item. Just like on this site! :) Most of the items shown here are from my childhood, or they come from flea markets, rummage sales, relatives who find them and pick them up for me, or from online shopping. I spend many hours a week doing internet searches looking for items I am interested in. I also often use yahoo toy groups or toy message boards to find what I'm looking for. Even so, by far, aution sites like Ebay and Bidville are the best places to find 80s toys.
Question: I am looking for/have an item, but I can't remember what it's called. Do you remember the name of it? Answer: Who hasn't run across this problem?! :) You can feel free to ask me, I'll help you if I can, but you will be better off going to a toy forum (check my links section) and posting a question there. Please try to have a picture as reference, incase someone responds to your post!
Question: Will you please send me a toy and let me send you a payment after I get it? Answer: No, and I do not know of ANY business anywhere that would do this.
Question: I have an 80s toy...would you like to buy it? Answer: Possibly! :) Please read my wishlist page before contacting me.
Question: Can I send carefully concealed cash as payment? Answer: Yes. A lot of buyers from Canada do this. However, I will not be held responsible for cash lost in the mail, so know in advance: you send at your own risk!
Question: I saw you have a few CPKs for adoption and in your collection where you have rerooted them (given them new or customized hair). I have a CPK I would like rerooted. Can you do it? Answer: Possibly. Send an email with what you're looking to have done ( for example if you have a doll with loopy hair but want pony tails, etc.) and we can discuss fees and styles. In some cases I will accept item trades for rerooting services. Please note in advance that some hairstyles take longer to finish and are more difficult to do than others. There are several factors to consider when rerooting; all of which I will happily discuss with you. NOTE: You will be expected to pay for the rerooting AND return shipping for your doll.
Question: What do you mean by "Serious Offers ONLY" on certain lots? Answer: This means please do not contact me about the items as a lot UNLESS you are certain you want the lot and intend to buy, no matter what the shipping. The reason for this is these items are heavy or large and must be weighed at the post office. I must package these items and arrange a time to go to the post, all just to determine the shipping (and total cost) for you. If I do all this and in the end you fail to send payment, or do not go through with the purchase, most lots have to be unwrapped since it is likely that the next person that contacts me will not want the entire lot. This means I have wasted both time and packing materials like kraft paper and packing tape, which I pay for out of my own pocket, on a venture that you very likely did not intend to go through with in the first place. It's a big mess, and a miserable experience. And when this happens, you can guarantee that I will not deal with you again. This especially goes for people who have me do all this then don't even bother to send in a payment, or even email me to let me know you've changed your mind. Sorry for any inconvenience, but several people have recently taken advantage of me in this way, and I care not to repeat the situation.
Question: Do you ship outside the USA? Answer: Yes. I will ship to Canada. However, I can only accept US (green) domestic money orders as payment, paypal (no credit/debit cards), or US cash as payment.
