History

When the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants left for California a new team was needed to replace them. That team was the New York Metropolitan's Baseball Club which were nicknamed the Mets. This was an early baseball team in New York founded in 1962. They started out with a terrible record: 40-120 enough said. They won only 2 World Series the first being against the Baltimore Orioles (former Yankees) in 1969 and in 1986.

Their Logo

Their logo is of the orange intertwined NY on a blue field. Since this team was chosen to take the place of the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers its logo symbolizes it. The orange intertwined NY came from the New York Giants who had it as their logo. The blue field is from the blue caps the Brooklyn Dodgers wore. The colors are also the official colors of New York State.
