Slipping Away
Chapter 6

Lets go ski dewing! Jesse said as he and Zoe laid in the sand, sunbathing. Okay! Zoe agreed, shes always wanted to do it, but never really had the opportunity.

Come on! Jesse said getting up and grabbing her hand. Can we rent two ski dew's for the afternoon? Jesse asked. The man took his money and handed him the keys and life jackets. Here you go! Jesse said giving her the life jacket.

Do you want the green one or the yellow one? He asked her. Green! she said taking the keys and running over to it.

After three hours of messing around in the water, Zoe was exhausted and Jesse was getting a little tired himself. Do you want to watch the sunset? Jesse asked while they walked up from the water. Thatd be great! Let me go change! Zoe answered running quickly back to the hotel.

=====

Its beautiful! she whispered to him resting her hands on his shoulders, he turned around to see her glowing face smiling at him. Oh good, your here! I was scared you might miss it! he said. I wouldnt miss it for the world! she smiled.

You can sit down here! he said sitting down on a towel and pulling her down next to him. Who knew you were so romantic McCartney! Zoe giggled wrapping herself in his arms, the apple scent tickling his nose.

Oh yeah, I have tons of tricks up my sleeve! he laughed with her, both gazing at the setting sun, another day of Zoes short life over and done with, to Jesse it seemed as if nothing had been accomplished but to her, it was another bond broken.

She had come to Hawaii and watched the sunset with Jesse just as they had always talked about, shes ski dewed and got to spend some quality time with Jesse, minus Frankies bone headed jokes, and Mollys motherly comments, or Danielles evil glares.

She was in paradise with someone to special to her, that she was a little sad about having to leave him, but she had no choice, the doctors had done all that they could do. But it made her smile to think Jesse had such faith in her.

No matter how bad she would get, he would always believe in her, and that she would get better. But was it really that great of a thing, what if she did die, and did hurt his feelings, what if she didnt make it, what if Jesse never had the same faith in anyone ever again!?!

The fluorescent colors, orange, yellow, and pink glowed in the sky above them, as she rested safely cuddled in Jesses arms. She never knew why, but he always made her feel so safe, so protected, like he would never let her be hurt.

To bad what was really hurting her was on the inside not the outside. But today she felt better then usual, maybe it was Hawaii, or maybe Jesse was right, maybe she was getting better. Would you like to take a walk? Jesse asked.

Huh? Zoe asked, her thoughts being broken. Would you like to take a walk? Jesse offered his hand. Id love to! she said taking it graciously, he lifted her to her feet easily she being a light 94 pounds.

I really did miss spending time with you when my family moved away! Zoe said as they walked down the beach, hand in hand, with their fingers laced. Yeah, I did to! Jesse said feeling the air around them dropping a few degrees.

It was hard being apart so long! She said, he felt it get colder. Yea, it was he agreed sighing. Is there something wrong Jess? Zoe asked looking at him. I just cant believe it still! Jesse said shaking his head violently picturing her grave in his mind.

Oh Jesse! she said stopping and wrapping him in her arms, a single tear slipped down his cheek, Jesse wasnt one to cry very often and when he did it made you cry yourself. Jesse no matter what, I will always love you! You remember that! You are so important to me, more then my parents, more then Molly, more then anyone! She said looking him straight in the eyes.

I love you Zoe! he said leaning down to her, his lips meeting hers in a magical moment of passion and love, just as the sun slipped under the ocean.
