Slipping Away
Epilogue Part 1

A cool wind whipped through the cool October day, the ski was dark with heavy gray cloud. Jesse slowly made his way down the sidewalk to Washington Cemetery, where Zoes grandmother had been buried and now she was being buried also, with a single white rose in his hand.

Jesse buttoned the top button to his black shirt that matched his black dress pants. He had been a mess the last couple of days, and not cooperative at all.

He approached the main gate to the cemetery seeing a huddle of people dressed in black and a Molly standing before them speaking about Zoe. They had wanted Jesse to speak but he couldnt handle it.

The death of Zoe Pierson was a tragic one indeed, she not only was a good friend, but an inspiration to all of us! Molly spoke her statement being broken up by sobs. I, I speak for all the girls as Cross Grove Boarding School for girls when I say, this world will not be the same as it was... as it was with Zoe! Not many of us knew... some of the girls didnt know about Zoes illness! she said holding a tissue to her nose and eyes. But Zoe wasnt one to enjoy people feeling sorry for her! Molly said.

After the speech everyone stood around the whole where her coffin would be buried. Jesse stood there next to Molly, she held his hand tightly as tears streamed down her pale cheeks. I miss her Molly whispered as her endless sobs continued. We all do Jesse answered keeping a stone face, he had cried for 3 days straight, he wasnt ready to start crying again.

He took his white rose and looked at it for a second, then as they lowered her 6 feet under he tossed it down below with her.
