His blue eyes stared tauntingly into my plain brown ones. I broke the contact, looking down at my old sandals. In these sandals, I reminisced about the pain nobody could ever imagine. The pain that still laughs at me today, the pain that won me over.

He took a hold of my hand roughly pulling me closer to him. His grasp was strong, it was unescapable. The harshness disappeared for only a few seconds, before he remembered everything. "Why couldn't you tell me?" He asked painfully. He put a hand on my cheek, forcing me to look at him. Into those amazing blue eyes.

I couldn't manage it. I almost broke down right there. Almost. "Because," I whispered softly, "I loved you." The anger in his eyes went away, while the sadness emerged.

He sighed, stroking my face gently. Now it was his turn to feel the pain that I went through these last years. He almost broke down right there. Almost. "I loved you too. I could've been there for you and him, I could've helped you through everything. You didn't have to hide." A single tear dropped down onto my hand, "It was as if my best friend vanished."

I shook my head, disagreeing. "You were always there for me, Jace. There was never a time you could've let me down." I placed my hand on his before speaking again. " But, you couldn't have been there for him. He needed to know he was loved. You couldn't provide that warm feeling if you were gone most of the year."

"You're right."

I stared into his blue eyes, sadly. "I am?"

"You are. I said it. You're right. I'm wrong. I couldn't have ever been there for him."

"Yeah, I know." I spoke, letting go of his hand. I always thought he was persistant, why did he give up without a fight? I picked up the tiny figure sleeping on his couch. My baby was sound asleep, his face as peaceful as ever.

"Tell Kyle I love him for me."

"Yeah I will. Tell Joey I love him for me."

JC pulled me into a hug. "No, you need to do that yourself."

"I can't."

He opened the door slowly, wondering if he'd ever see me again. I wondered the same about him.
"Bye, sis." He spoke, before closing the door. His door was always open, but I guess it just wasn't what I needed.

"Tell Joey he loves him." I whispered painfully, playing with Kyle's curly hair. I knew JC wasn't there anymore, but it helped me feel a sense of comfort.
