"Dreamy Eyes" - Sung By: Christina Aguilera

Taylor couldn't believe it. She didn't know what to think anymore; she didn't want to have to think anymore. He was gone and everyone realized that. Everyone knew he would never be able to come back. They wouldnt be able to see his engaging smile or his beautiful hazel eyes ever again. But then why did she see him? Why couldnt she get over it? Why did she not want to get over it? She wanted it to be a nightmare. She wanted so bad for it to be, but as much as she wanted it to be a bad dream, she would never wake up now with his arms wrapped around her. People got over it, most of them didnt even care or realize how much she was still hurting. Hurting so bad, hurting more than she ever had before. She was dying. Not exactly dying, but her heart was emotionally broken into pieces. It was so hard to deal with everything. She felt him with her, even when he wasnt there.

She heard the bed creak, like it had every night before. The warm figure snuck in, as if not  trying to disturb her. She was already awake, it didnt matter. He swung his arm around her, in this kind of sleepy manner. She smiled at the thought of what a beautiful person he was.

"Lance?" She questioned quietly. She felt him tighten his grasp around her. She wanted to be in his arms forever.

"Taylor?" His smooth, deep voice questioned back, tiredly.

It mustve been a dream again. But she wasnt sure if it was because it seemed so real. It seemed like she really felt him next to her. It was as if she felt his constant breathing next to her. It wasnt a dream, it seemed so real. But how?

I'm reaching out to touch you
In the middle of the night
And I don't know if I've been sleeping
But I hold my pillow tight
Are you real or are you my imagination playing games?
I can set you free
You'll always be my eternal flame.

"When did you get back?" She asked, nervously. She didnt know how to act or what to say. She wanted to seem as calm as possible. She wanted to scream how much she was crazy in love with him, but she held it in.

"What do you mean? You know I had to go to the studio to do a little bit of work. Didnt I say I would be back in a few hours? Im here, arent I?" His southern accent seemed to come out more than ever. She absolutely adored it.

But it was too good to be true. He never came back that night. Why is he saying he did? Why was he there? She had so many unanswered questions. Was he alive? She wasnt sure of that just yet.

She turned around to look at his face. His eyes made contact with hers, and she gasped. They looked so real, but so unimaginable. She reached over to touch his face. He got further away every time she reached out.

"Why cant I touch you?" She asked, now that he was as far as he could be. "Come here, Lance. Why could you touch me, but I couldnt touch you?" He drifted away even more. "Come back!" She didnt want him to leave her again, just like he had before. She still loved him so much, but everything still was hurting. She wanted them to be together forever.

Your dreamy eyes
They just wont say good-bye
Well it must be my fate
cause I just cant escape
And the passion never dies
Oh, dreamy eyes
No matter how I cry
I just can't reach you dreamy eyes

He looked at her from across the room. "I just cant." He stated with no emotion at all. "Well always be together, T. Not even if you arent with me. Ill always be with you."

"Lance stop with the bullshit. We are together Lance." She was starting to get slightly irritated. He was with her, he was in the room and alive. She didnt exactly know why or how that happened, but it did and thats all that mattered.

"Thats just it, Taylor. You cant keep pretending that we are together. Things changed, there were unexpected plans and we both know we cant change that."

"Then why are you fucking here, Lance? If we arent together anymore, then why are you still bothering with  me. Why are you acting like everything is fucking just like its always been if its changed. Youre acting exactly the same as Ive been so dont pretend its all my fault." A silent tear rolled down her cheek.

He walked closer to her, slowly. "Love brings me here. You bring me here, Taylor. I love you more than Ive loved anything before." She could now feel him breathing against her cheek. She closed her eyes. "But were in two different worlds." He slowly pulled away to her dissatisfaction.

You're a vision of tomorrow
And a ghost from yesterday
And I'll be trying not to let you
Take my breath away
You're a summer breeze
That comes and goes
But somehow lingers on
Tell me how can I forget you
If you're never really gone

She woke up, sorrowfully, to the annoying buzz of her alarm clock. Damn thing she thought to herself, rubbing her eyes. She remembered everything so clearly. He was definitely there last night. She could feel his presence and the vibe he always gave off when they were around each other.

Hes dead. Hes never been there. It was a just a dream. Hes in your dreams. She convinced herself. She looked in her dresser for the promise ring he gave her. He promised her the world. He promised her the fucking world. But she wore it anyways because the promise was still with her. She shuffled the mess when she came across such a familiar and now rusted newspaper.

"Lance Bass dead at age twenty-seven." She read on, even though she didnt want to. It was a simple reminder. "Lance Bass, a member of the popular band NSYNC, passed away late last night on his way home from working at his studio due to an accident involving a drunk driver. Family members are upset and hold no comment as of now. He was engaged with soon to be wife, Taylor Johnson, a twenty-nine year old teacher from Alabama. Our condolences go out to her and the rest of his friends and family. As of the drunk driver, thirty-six year old Jose Thomas, escaped the crash with merely a broken arm (continued on page A3)." She didnt bother turning the page. She memorized the article; she read it over and over many times.

Just a simple reminder. He wasnt there with her, he was never there in the first place. But when she closed her eyes, she pictured his face clearly. Him, and his dreamy eyes.

What do I have to do
To get that close to you
And your dreamy eyes
Oh, I try so hard to release you
I just keep seeing through dreamy eyes
