| Written by Nicole* Kate knew she was in for it now and had to think fast. She quickly pulled her shirt down covering the black blue bruise on her lower ribs. �Oh please Josh you know me. I�m clumsy. I must have run into something.� �But Kitty that looks really bad,� he said and then he lifted the bottom of her shirt up again so that he could see it. He then ran his hand over the bruise and noticed that she pulled away which meant that not only did it look bad it hurt badly too. Kate flinched as JC he did this. She felt bad lying to him but it was for his own good. She wanted to turn over a new leaf and forget the nightmare she once experienced. �Are you sure you just bumped into something Kitty?� JC asked knowing that she was lying. �Yea that must be it.� JC knew she was lying. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she was not telling him the truth. Obviously she didn�t want to talk about it and right now he wasn�t going to push her. Yet he made a note to make sure he found out who or what caused that bruise. After her confrontation with JC, Kate wandered down the halls of the backstage area. She really didn�t know what to do because the guys were off somewhere and she didn�t now anybody else. �Kate!� Someone shouted through out the hallway. Kate turned around and noticed Erin coming towards her. She had forgotten about her. It actually kind of made Kate feel guilty. After all Erin was just trying to be nice and Kate was somewhat blowing her off. �Hey Erin. What are you up to?� Kate asked giving Erin a chance. �Actually I was looking for you. I thought that maybe we could talk and learn more about each other. I mean we do have to be around each other for a good couple of months,� Erin explained. �Yeah that�s true. Well let�s go in here,� Kate said pointing to JC�s dressing room. The two girls went inside and sat on the couches in JC�s dressing room trying to get comfortable. �So Erin where are you from?� �Oh well actually I�m from Mississippi just like Lance. His family and mine were always close friends so when we got together nobody was really surprised. It�s nice though to know that our family supports our relationship.� She paused letting the information sink in. �So Kate, do you have a boyfriend back in Georgia?� �No. All the guys there are jerks.� �Yea well hunny. All guys are jerks no matter where you go,� Erin said. The two girls broke out into laughter just as JC and Justin walked into the dressing room. �What are you two doing?� Justin asked sitting down next to Kate on the couch. �Nothing really, just bashing the male race,� she replied with a smirk. �Oh really?� Justin said poking her side. As he did that JC noticed that Kate grimaced at his touch on her bruise. He really wanted to know what happened there. Kate also noticed that JC watched her flinch at Justin�s touch. She had to get out of there...and quick. �Well guys I�m gonna go take a walk and clear my head,� she said while getting up. �Do you mind if I come along?� Justin asked from his seat on the couch. Kate really didn�t want company but she couldn�t tell Justin that. �Sure, let�s go boy.� The two teenagers walked along the grass outside stadium in silence. �Penny for thoughts?� Justin asked. �Try a quarter,� she replied with a smirk. �Something you want to talk about Kate?� he asked while stopping and sitting down in the grass. Kate sat down next to him and thought for a moment about if she should tell Justin. She immediately decided against it. She couldn�t tell anyone. �It�s really nothing just that it�s different leaving on the road and being away from everyone you love. But I�m sure you know about that by now.� �Oh yeah, I wrote that book. It�s hard at first, but you pull through because you have to and because you finally realize that even though you left loved one�s behind there are others still around you,� he said with a smile. Kate looked up at Justin and caught his eyes. They were filled with so much emotion from their previous conversation that she couldn�t even begin to make something out. While she was looking at his, he noticed hers too. Her eyes were beautiful yet there was something missing like a hole that needs to be filled. At that moment he made a pact with himself that even if she wouldn�t tell him that something was bothering her, he would try his best to make it better. �Didn�t your mom tell you that staring is not very polite?� Came a voice from above them. Justin and Kate broke out of their gaze and looked right up at Chris. �What are you talking about Chris?� Kate said while standing up and brushing the grass off of her jeans. �I�m going inside Justin it was nice to talk to you,� she said making her way to the door. �Yeah, okay. I�ll be there in a little while. Thanks for letting me come with you.� �Anytime Justin, anytime.� And with that Kate closed the door behind her. �You know Curly if keep drooling your gonna have a puddle the size of Texas,� Chris said with a smirk. �I don�t know what you�re talking about Chris,� Justin said getting up. �Yes you do,� he said pushing past him. �You like her and you know it.� Chris went inside and Justin just stayed there for a moment. Did he like her? Well duh�yea. But in what way? on�t know. But what I do know is that I�m going to help that girl with the problem she�s having.With that he went inside. That night Kate took her seat in the front row of the stadium. The fans were so loud and the show was about to start. She just sat there and thought about how much her life changed in the past week. She went from small town girl to someone that is getting the chance to travel the world with her cousin and his friends in the most talked about group since the Beatles. She was broke out of her thoughts by the sound of the opening chords coming through the area. She watched the guys come on strings from the ceiling. The concert was incredible, but they still didn�t sing her favorite song and she wanted to hear it so bad. Then the opening chords started. His name was Billy. He meant so much to her and he told her that he would always be there. Well he wasn�t and she wound up with a broken heart again. She made a pact with herself never to believe anything a guy says. It truly was what they all loved to do. The first one she saw was Chris. Chris was the happy guy always coming up with smart comments, but on stage he always had a smile on his face because he was doing what he truly wanted to do. Joey was next to Chris. She really couldn�t tell much about Joey other then what she knew already. Joey was a flirt plain and simple. He also danced funny, always making faces at the crowd. He was probably the one most into the crowd and always reaching out to them. Then came Lance. Lance was the nice one and even up on stage you could tell. He didn�t have that great of rhythm, but he fit in well he was the one that made the group happen after all. Then came JC. He was always there for her and she knew he always would be. Even on stage you could tell he was the leader of the group directing people when he thought no one saw. He was the father and the one that held it all together. Last was Justin. He was beautiful no matter how you looked at him one thing was true he was beautiful. He looked so into his music, but then suddenly he turned his face and caught her eyes. Kate blushed because he caught her staring, but he just winked and waved. There was something about him that made her feel safe. She couldn�t let him in, though. Every guy that she ever loved hurt her some more then others.
