Justin groaned, placing his hands in his hair. He never thought that life would be like this- he never expected it. He was living his dreams, but in exchange gave his other dreams up-her. That was the one that kept him sane. Justin turned his head to the side looking at the old oak table that held a few scattered things. He picked up the phone and nervously dialed the once familiar numbers.
"Hey," a voice on the line said, tiredly.
"Hello?" Justin shot up, excitedly.
"You've reached Janette's phone. Hit me up a damn message and I'll make sure to call you back." He listened to her voice for a while, before hanging up the phone, dejectedly.
He turned on the television and changed the channel to MTV. It was five a.m. and Justin needed something to calm his nerves up until his other bandmates wake up. "Brian McFaden with MTV news. There are rumors all over and it was just confirmed that Janette Carey and Justin Timberlake have officially broken up. We heard it first from Janette earlier this week at her movie premiere for "Take Me Home."
The screen appeared on Janette smiling genuinely. "Yes, we have broken up. Things weren't working out the way that everything was going. Justin is busy making music and I'm as well busy making movies. Hopefully though, regardless of our breakup, we will still be friends." She smiled once again and walked down the red carpet, stiffly. Justin watched the screen, blankly. Things were just working fine to him, he didn't understand.
Justin clasped his hands together, biting his lip. He never knew that a girl would cause things to go crazy, he'd been trying his best to be a man and be strong, but nothing seemed to be working. Justin looked up at the television screen which showed a clip of Janette's new movie, wishing he could touch her face. But the truth would always remain-she's gone.
He regretted everything he didn't do, and also everything he did. Justin didn't know what he did to make her turn away, was it something he said? No matter what excuse he made for her leaving, it wouldn't change anything for she was out of his life. But if Janette ever gave him a second chance, he had to know because his life before was whole and time went so slowly now.
His cell phone rang causing him to stir out of his thoughts.
"Hello?" Justin asked, dully.
He jumped up, recognizing the voice he longed so badly to hear. "Janette! What's up, do you need anything? Can we talk?" Justin questioned, excited.
Janette laughed, briefly, before she spoke up. "Justin, I miss you."
He couldn't believe his ears, was she taking him back?
"But I can't have that relationship with you anymore," she continued. Justin sank into the couch. Great. Get his hopes up and then shoot him down. "I know this is kind of cheesy," she said softly,"But I wanted to make sure that, you know, we're still friends." She paused. "Are we still... friends?"
Justin couldn't be friends with her. He wanted her too badly. He needed her too badly. But he would take what he could get. Start from scratch again, and maybe work up to what he knew they both needed- each other. "Yeah, of course, Janette."
