Girl of the Past
She can't see
The future so clear
There's no escaping
It's already here
She has no idea
What is to come
Doesn't see the problems
That she has begun
What will happen
if the truth can be seen?
Will she change it?
Will her slate be clean?
She is blinded by the light
Her true world is covered
It is darkened by lies
And deception of another
She faces the world alone
All the help she turns away
She would see through the dark
If the help would just stay
She thinks she understands
Thinks she's figured it out
She's ready to fight
No sign of doubt
Confusion and pain
Swirls through her mind
She tried to do the right thing
She tries to be kind
She's constantly haunted
By sadness and pain
She continues to hide it
Tries to act tame
Reality keeps drifting
She feels so alone
How did she get here?
She wants to go home
She made to many changes
She's lost the real her
Doesn't know who she is
Her life is a blur
She doesn't know
That she's growing up too fast
Doesn't understand
She's just a girl of the past
Emptiness will replace
All the feeling that leaves
There will be nothing
Where her life used to be
She will be shocked
When she finds the truth
She'll see a broken life
From a shattered youth
